Agreed. Truth be told I'd rather have a munchkin who plays like a rabid wolverine than a juggernaut who plays like a cupcake. It's why I love guys like Hagel, Shaw, and Debrincat; they all play larger than they actually are (or were) NO DOUBT! Let's just hope Hagel shows the durability of D-Cat and not the durability of Shaw or Caggiula(two other small-framed guys who played like rabid wolverines),Hagel has shown durability so far though and I gotta think he's more around mid 180's now than what he's listed at. I'd be great to have that 6'2" 200lb plus power forward but I been sayin' that for years......as it is,I'd like to see Hagel get a real shot at top six minutes this year. You and I've been saying it for years, a big powerforward for the top6 would be great. That's why I'm hoping a guy like Hardman, Entwistle, Cam Morrison, or Slavin has a great camp and earns a spot to help protect the star players, they're all smart hard working big guys who know their role. Entwistle is maybe 190lbs but he's 6'3-4" and strong. Hagel seems to be between a Debrincat and Shaw/Cags, he's skilled and plays hard but doesn't have the offensive ceiling like Dcat and not as reckless as Shaw n Cags. But yes he'd look good on the top6. As for player weights, how is Debrincat still only 165lbs like his draft year? Goodman has said every training camp since his draft he comes back bigger and stronger. I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the mid 180's, just like Hagel, except Hagel has 5-6" on him.

Would listing players current weight on their roster page be that big of an effort, they all weigh-in at the start of camp. It might be harder for prospects playing over seas but I gotta think all teams weigh their players in at the start of camp......God forbid you make a phone call or two. Good calls on Hagel my friend but you called him some time ago. I admit his playing style is the thing that made me take notice but when I did,I saw a kid start to make plays at the NHL level as the year went on after a slow start. No, he doesn't have the All-star offensive ceiling of D-Cat(few do)but his numbers were good in the WHL,the AHL and he figured thing out at the NHL level too,I see much more than a grinder and I hope the staff does too! How does Hagel NOT get the opportunity Sikura and Nolander got? I also agree that he's not reckless, the only four Hawks who had more points than Hagel also had more PIM's I doubt D-Cat's still 165lbs and for that matter,I doubt he's still only 5'7" too,I see a stout little F'er with a set of 'traps',a set of 'delts' and a neck as thick as his head....LOL....

excellent read. it's pretty clear how proud dad is of his boy. he's going to have a good season. he's going to be more relaxed and i bet that shooting % goes up as a result. still playing the guessing game about his weight but if he's gained "6 or 7 pounds" he's at least 180. lets get this bloody season going.

I'm guessin' he was a bit stouter than the 174 listed last year too,he sure as hell played like it! His style of play can lead a HC to a bottom six role for a forward but I hope he gets his shot at the top six like a few less deserving guys have the last few years.....gotta think JC appreciated the hell out of him last year or at least I hope he did.

I was thinking he was in the low 180's last season, so another 6-7lbs puts him close to 190 now, that'll help him get shots of faster and battling for pucks. And once again a player says during an interview he put on weight but he'll probably still be listed an 174lbs. Dach said after his draft he never had time to add muscle because he was crazy busy with interviews, prospect camp, then the tournament were he got a concussion. But he said he gained 10+lbs before the Edmonton series, so he's not 198lbs still. Reichel said he gained around 16lbs before last season, so that puts him in the mid 180's, not 170lbs. Might be in the 190's now and maybe 6'2", his brother is 6'3". Then recently Gaudette said he added around 20lbs, so he's in the 190's now, not 170lbs. With how his body responded to finally absorbing nutrients I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the 200s at camp. And we've talked about Debrincat, he's a stalky guy and GT might remember but when he was interviewed right after he was drafted I noticed how big his hands were and said he had big fat sniper hands lol He's thick and with Goodman saying he added size and strength every offseason, how can he be 165 still. I'd say he's in the 180's. With younger guys adding size and gaining experience last season, it should help this season.

www.nhl.com/news/patrick-kane-working-through-nagging-issue-for-chicago/c-326169024Patrick Kane said he has been working through an unspecified issue that has been bothering the Chicago Blackhawks forward since before the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. "It's something that I worked on all summer, so it's been, I don't want to say frustrating, but it's been like nagging me a little bit," Kane said at the NHL/NHLPA Player Media Tour on Thursday. "We're at the point now where I think it's finally starting to turn the corner and seeing some progress.""To be honest with you, I'm excited with where I'm at. Hopefully I'm feeling good to start the season," Kane said. "Obviously, I have different conversations with doctors and the training staff, so I'm sure we'll kind of readjust it. But to me, there's no worries going into camp."
he goes on to talk about jonny... Kane has been skating in Chicago with several teammates, including center Jonathan Toews, who took a medical leave of absence prior to last season because of what is being called chronic immune response syndrome. "He's working hard. You can tell he's really focused on getting his body and his mind in the right place to be able to play and be successful. Other than that, I mean, just happy to have him back and such a big part of our team, you know? Whether it's on the ice or off the ice, [he] just brings that presence."
