this is a bad era to be a hawks' fan. this sexual assault allegation, the logo controversy, the toews' mystery, foley retiring, losing seabs and crow and shaw among others, mired in generally poor play with little or no direction out of it. i'm no doubt forgetting some things but it's a good start. and of course there are some positives but not much really. i'm not trying to diminish the suffering of the victims and yes, i'm thinking selfishly here, but maybe this whole mess will eventually lead us to better management top to bottom and to better times ahead.Only way to make it "better" is going to have to sell the team or disband the franchise. Every player knew, every coach knew, every executive knew. Also the league knew, every team heard about it and knew, every player in the league heard about it. The "NHL BRASS' also needs to be fired. Holy shit! The Nuclear Option?

Where was the players association when this was going on.

Where was the players association when this was going on. You’re absolutely right. I think Tman said it best, the Hawks, The NHLPA and the NHL all sucked when this happened. All of them should be gone. I just seen Bergevin being questioned on this. He even said that he wasn’t aware, but he basically said that Paul Vincent did have a meeting he heard, and that he was not part of any decisions. So it seems to be gaining steam. I think we’ll hear more and more coming out just so it doesn’t lose steam. I’m embarrassed that McD and Stan chose that path. It’s disgusting and appalling. But it never should have even gotten to the NHLPA. The Hawks should have handled this. So we can’t start blaming other people why the Hawks shit stinks!!!

I thought we might've hit bottom but wishful thinking i'm afraid. yeah, this likely is going to get worse... I wonder how long until The Family addresses it. seems to me like a couple people in the front office are going to have to fall on the sword, unless they just blame it all on McDonut as that article said (which would surprise me none).

I know this shows my age(fuk it at this point!LOL!)but as I've said before I usually have News radio WBBM Chicago on when I'm at my computer. They've been good in the past at braking Hawk stories but mum on this one till just now, they're reporting Daniel Wirtz has hired a former federal prosecutor to investigate the recent charges.

This story just keeps getting worse. Man, what a sad, depressing situation. Still needs to be kept in the limelight. As sad, disgusting, and depressing as this is, the cancer and slime needs to be rooted out if there's any hope of moving forward. Hell, if there was a Blackhawks Convention, amd a Q&A, people should be asking the difficult questions and making the brass feel the pressure.

I’m gonna pose this question. If McD and Stan both decided to leave this alone. Let’s say the players and coaching staff ended up knowing. Is it fair that the players and coaching staff get hell for not doing more?
I only ask this because I can see this heading in that direction. You’re about to see management be ultra protective here. So, I’m not sure what’s gonna happen, but expect people to be thrown under the bus and dragged for miles!!!

If management took care of it, they wouldn’t have been in a shitty situation. It sucks no matter what. As a parent I wouldn’t want to see my kid go through that shit. I think management should bare the brunt of all of the blame and punishment here!!!

sounds to me like the players knew something happened but not what exactly. perhaps the coaching staff as well. I don't know that many are going to blame them too much. I'm sure they thought it was handled when the guy didn't return.
the decision to sweep this under the rug was made by those in charge above them. those folks knew exactly what had happened and they tried to whisk it away, going so far as to not even mention it when giving this asshole a referral. they are the ones who will (deservedly) get the majority of the blame here.

seems to me like Stan Bowman is about to be done in Chicago. I don't know how they don't fire him at this point. McIsaac too.

They had their hands full I'd say and probably hoped management would do the right thing.....they didn't.

Yes...thankfully we got an oversized AC...but since out place is multilevel downstairs is nice and chill but the upstairs is a sauna. Hope you're handling it well, too. This reminds me of my college days in the Phoenix area...not the usual rain, gloom, and the unipiper.

So, I’m not sure what’s gonna happen, but expect people to be thrown under the bus and dragged for miles!!! I'll start out by saying that it is very hard to do the right thing in real time. That is, as events are unfolding, and one does not have the benefit of hindsight, it is very difficult to assess the situation. Also, as far as the players knew, the situation was brought up to the management, who were entrusted to take action. They fired Aldrich, but didn't prevent him from seeking employment where he was able to do the same thing. This is akin to dealing with a nuclear accident: the exposure to radiation spans great distances, but not everyone is affected to the same degree. Yes, the players and coaches are tainted, but not to the same extent as the management, who were near the epicenter. Finally, all organizations put a tremendous pressure on their employees to conform. Whistleblowers are far and few between. Unfortunately.

It's actually a little cooler where I am in Portland, since I am at about 500'. Now, bicycling home this afternoon from Wilsonville should be an interesting experience.
