I’ve gotta say that I’ve tried Goose Island, and I’m not much of a fan. A lot of these “craft breweries” nowadays are throwing shtty hops at a wall and hoping it sticks. IPAs are not for me at all. At first I was all for the micro breweries, and all these craft beers. I’ll try almost any beer, but I spent a lot of my life drinking stuff I don’t like. So now I’m down to a few beer that I call mine. Guinness, OV, Coors Banquet and sometimes when I’m just cuttin the grass or got a long day ahead, I’ll drink a light beer like Bud light or Blue light etc. I’ll try his beer, but I don’t expect too much out of craft beers anymore!!! I have a few buds who drink IPA's but they taste like piss in a glass to me. Goose Island makes some real good beers but whatever floats your boat. I'll take a Jim Beam and soda with a hunk of lemon anyday, but I like Shocktop and Especial and give me a Coors light on a hot day......it's more like water than water is.

What’s your thoughts on Guinness? I think it’s wonderful. I get excited when someone has Guinness on tap. The carbonation is low, it’s actually a lighter beer, and it’s not thick like most think it is. It’s easy to chug, and it’s actually quite good for you..... maybe not 12, but you know what I mean!!!

not a big beer drinker anymore, personally, but once GI sold out to AB, they were kind of dead to me. I've always liked the Bourbon County Stout, though.
definitely a whiskey/bourbon/scotch guy here, unless I want/need to drink all night, then it is rum and coke time.

A few of my Michigan buddies, we golf in Michigan every late September. A 3-4 day trip. We go to breweries all over, I had a stout last year and it was great, don’t remember what it was called, but I really liked it. Guinness is my favourite stout so far. When I was younger, I always thought it was thick as a brick and twice as hard to swallow. But that’s not the case. I’m always open to a new beer. I’m not a fan of fruity tasting beers like that Kronenberg blanc 1664 sht. I tried one and almost started a war with the country it hailed from. I had my rummy days. I used to drink way too much liquor. Now a days I settle more for beer. I loved me some rum and coke, like loved it. But it’s pretty hard on the marriage and the liver. So I toned her down and really haven’t been into liquor much lately. However my buddy just turned 40 and we were making Old fashions with some expensive bourbon I got him. My goodness I was buckled pretty quickly. We gotta get a crew together for some drinks. I gotta make it to Chicago, but my boy would probably come, and at 9, I’m not sure I want him out drinking with me yet! But I’d love to make a party at the UC one night, and go out afterwards!!!

DCS is my favorite, but I would recommend not getting too crazy with the BCS as it is 14.7% vs the 4.1% of Guinness.... both will bite ya in the ass if you get too carried away with em! I'm thinking either a home game or maybe a roadie in the D would be fun times.

Even I quit Windsor. The royals are a mess, our downtown is full of drug addicts. I think Detroit may be a safer bet these days.
The LCA is definitely a great arena. One of the best for sure. Creature used to lurk around the mean streets of Detroit, he’d be in. We could chip in and get GT a one way ticket to Hell..... Michigan that is. Nice place there.
Chicago would be cool too. We’ll have to look at the schedule once it comes out and throw a dart at a date. Mexican Town in Detroit is always a good time. Margaritas and the food is ugly, yet delicious. Lotsa cool bars downtown Detroit now. It’s not the A hole it once was!!!

It’s not the A hole it once was!!! only been to the pizza palace once and it was for a concert, but it seemed a bit nicer than the ole JLA... added bonus they removed the kid rock restaurant, so there's that. as you said, lots of work done in downtown detroit since my days working down there. good lord it's been almost 20 years.... used to park atop Cobo and walk to work at 5 am.... place was a ghost town. I worked overnight for a bit downtown as well and it was crazy how empty it was after about 9pm... anyway, plenty of places to go there after if we all met up there. obviously about 100x more place to meet in Chicago if we went the home game route as well.... gonna have work on this in the offseason! speaking of Creature, glad you brought him up. if ya talk to him again, see if ya can get him on the board here! it would be cool to get him out for a game as well if we can put this together next season! edit: it may be nicer than it was 20 years ago, but it'll ALWAYS be an A hole to me!

F'n skinny jeans line up around the block at Binnies on black Friday to get this stuff but I live 40+ miles west of town and occasionally a liquor store will get a few cases but the hayseeds out this way ain't payin' the normal $14 for a bottle of beer and I come in and buy it all for $10...….LOL! I'll drink it as a 'side car' along with a beer or a Beam and soda when I do pop one though,it's an intense flavorful experience if someone never had one and a GREAT buzz too.

Since the contents of this thread has become at least 8% alcohol, I hope someone can help. What is a good red ale? I actually want it to add to chili. This winter I've tried making chili and recently made some that called for a stout, so I added some chocolate stout. I like Guinness but I wasn't about to add my good Guinness to chili so I tried the chocolate stout.
It was fairly good but I want to try chili with red ale. From what I read, a red ale would give the chili a slightly sweet flavor. I looked at a liquor store that carries beer and ale from several different countries but I didn't find anything that had red ale on the label. So it made me wonder if the red ales may have had other names that didn't make it obvious it was a red ale. I used to see George Killian's Irish Red but I haven't seen it in quite a while.
Is there anything similar to a red ale that would give a similar flavor? I'm just not familiar enough with the various types of beers and ales. When I went to the liquor store it got confusing.

In the can it has the same widget that Guinness uses so you get the creamy head when you pour. Never tried cooking with it though.

Maybe stow-away in the wheel well! well....last count it was verified in 83 countries so you're rolling the dice where ever you're flying. and to try to keep it hockey related.....can you imagine the playoffs being played in empty arenas? hard for me to imagine.....it'd sure be different and (imo) far less exciting. worst case scenario no doubt, but it's a possibility. actually, worst case scenario would be no playoffs.

a bit surprising, but the flyers have the highest chance to win the cup according to this. unfortunately for them, this was posted about 15 hours ago and JVR broke his hand about 2 hours ago, so that number will undoubtedly drop.
edit: JVR broke his right index finger, not his hand. 4-6 weeks.

I could probably tell by drinking one first how it would do in chili. When I looked at their website, in the description of ales, it said amber ales were also called red ales. I think that is what was partly confusing me in descriptions.

And I'll see what I find at the larger liquor store I'll go to. There were at least three beers/ales from Lexington that I'd like to sample; the bourbon barrel ale, the winter golden stout and the Irish Red Ale. And that was just on the first glance.

I really think that with over 20 million in LTIR, and Stan only allowed to dump UFAs. He’s gone at seasons end. This team has to make the playoffs for him to survive. He wasn’t allowed to make any moves. They want the new guy to make the moves. The only problem is, the new guy may go full rebuild. We’ll see in a about 4 weeks time!!!
