wow so it was all 27s fault that they were so shitty?? Last year I was told because of there skating ability they will be able to transition quicker. This year I am being told because we are bigger we will be able to transition quicker. For 2.5 years I have been told dont worry about it things will be fine once we get the puck??? His defensive system dosnt seem to have much to do about defense... Next week the pack mentality quotes start for the forwards.......

Thanks for the dribs and drabs GT 👍
Those are the two I would've gave the A's to, Debrincat really stepped up last season, especially after getting the A.
Who will get the Hagel this season 😆 I thought last season Entwistle would've made the team out of camp but being waiver exempt he was in Rockford most of the season. He's now on a 1way contract and it's awesome hearing him being talked about, especially the coach raving about him.
JC also mentioned Reese Johnson today, his speed and work ethic can't be ignored much longer before he's given a chance or traded. His first game he had 5 hits in just over 5mins and created chances.
R.Johnson and Entwistle can play all 3 forward positions and they're the type of forwards that every team needs.

I’m OK with some experimentation with the new kid on the block but I’m hoping there isn’t pressure to make sure he’s on the team when they break camp. There’s enough solid and experienced players on this years squad that Reichel can get acclimated to N.A. hockey by getting big minutes in Rockford. This is an important year for all including G.M., coaches and players. I’d like to see at least a couple of lines firmed up and ready to go when the season starts which means I’d like to see Kubalik back on Toews wing and not under utilized again by the staff.

The quotes about Entwhistle and Johnson makes me wonder why they signed a guy like Khaira for two years. I think that’s a position that might have been filled in-house. I thought by not reupping Kampf they had opened up a spot for one of the above, or maybe Hardman fits in there as well. I’m sure there will be call ups for rewarding good play in Rockford.

Yeah it sucks seeing Kubalik under utilized, especially on the PP. He should be paired with Jones on the first unit, especially when the 1st unit plays the majority of the time. And I fully agree, don't rush Reichel, unless he 100% deserves a spot, he should be playing big minutes in Rockford. But I'm ok trying him with different lines during camp, preseason they can start to solidify certain lines.

I wondered the same thing about the Khaira signing, takes a spot from one of the young guys who play a similar style, Entwistle, R.Johnson, and Hardman. But he's cheap and low risk for a 6'4" powerforward, if he can stay healthy he is a good 4th liner, if he gets concussed there'll be guys ready to step up.

I read it on a link from the NHL app, Colby Cohens report on the start of week 2 of camp. Covered everything in your dribs and drabs lol minus who the assistants are. Brent Sutter loved coaching Reese and Hagel, I think Reese was in the mid 50's for faceoffs in Red Deer and really complimented his cousins game. 6'1" and listened under 200lbs but I'm sure he added muscle in the past few years. Great to hear he was on the #1 PK today. He also mentioned Allan looking really good as an 18yr old in his first camp.

I wish I could like this twice. I believe very strongly that it is in the team and player's best interest for Reichel to start in Rockford. I also will be shocked if he does. can't wait until next year to show how smart we are for taking him when next year someone else might get credit...

Macs new contract starts next year I believe. I am a fan of Macs but I would be shocked if he makes the big club.

I guess Caleb's injury wasn't too serious if he's in the lineup. That's good.

Seems kind of stacked towards Red. I’m happy for big Crevier to get in, he impressed against the Minnesota prospects. Oh, and I don’t know what to think about Strome’s chances here when I see his positioning and line mates.

Sweet move by Caleb to get the puck to Dach for the OT winner. Teply scored from Reichel and R.Johnson, Reese fired at shot from the top of the circles with Reichel by the net, he got the rebound and found Teply in the slot. Dach with the primary assist on Kubaliks goal. They looked good together in their first seasons, Dach set up Kubaliks 30th before covid locked things down. Hopefully that means Toews will be centering Debrincat and Kane, pair Kubalik with Dach and put Hagel on their RW.

I am still hoping that Strome gets a fair chance, even though the odds of that are dwindling. He is a good player. Dach's goal was a goal-scorer's goal. It was awesome.

Two assists, both secondary, but a nice carry in in OT and then getting himself open so Lanks had to cheat a bit and got caught on Dach’s goal. And a nice pass to Dach to set up him and Kubalik for the first goal. Also saw him killing penalties which is something new. I know he’s waiver exempt but he’s ready now and I’d hate to see him go back to the Rock at this point.

There are so many questions about these guys. Guess we won't even begin to get answers until the real season starts. Can Toews get back to himself? Are Dach and Strome real NHL players or just hopes? I do like the Kane, Johnson, DCat line. Guess Toews will have to really work hard to produce with his line. I hope he can hold up and return to his productive ways. The D is always a question mark, but Fleury should still be able to stop a few shots. Should be an interesting season as I don't think how this team will turn out will be evident for a long time into the season. Guys like Hegel, Dach and Strome could surprise on the upside or disappoint, so who knows which way it will go. Strome has shown nothing without DCat and at 24 he had 6 seasons to improve his play and usefullness. Dach has started slow because of pre season injuries. During the COVID shut down instead of stuffing his face and playing video games he made the conscience choice and hired PK's trainer to improve his game. His play in the bubble is a more acurate indicator of his abilities. According to this board Kirby was considered closer to a tenth overall pick but when you stack up his numbers with that of Hughes and Kakko who went 1 and 2 who were considered miles ahead or everyone else his point production is not that far off considering they have played 30 or more games than him. This off season K Dach again has shown that he is not satisfied and still trying to improve. I believe his determination to improve and his skill level makes him and NHL player. I won't say that Strome and Dach will not produce well this year. I can only say that I have seen nothing so far from either of these two to convince me that they will be significant contributors to the Hawk offense. I can be convinced, but only superior play will do it. I sure hope they will be, but I haven't seen what I want to see yet.

It seems pretty clear to me that there are only two real battles in camp for spots on the opening roster.
One is between Reichel and Strome. If Reichel is ready, then Strome is gone. More likely, Reichel starts the season in the AHL and is a call up next spring.
The other is between Entwistle, Borgstrom and Gaudette. Two of these three guys will make it. I suspect Entwistle starts in Rockword because he does not need to clear waivers.
The other roster spots are all decided at least for now. Khaira, Carpenter and Kurashev will make the opening lineup (and battle with Borgstrom and Gaudette for consistent icetime). Connelly is waived and starts in Rockford. Nylander is going to make the team and start in the bottom six.
On defence, Mitchell and Beaudin start in Rockford.
