Training camp and preseason are over and there's tough decisions to be made at every position, a "good" problem to have.
Unfortunately because of waivers and other factors some deserving players will be sent down but with the team they're icing, this roster's the best it's looked in years.
We have the Captain back looking happy and healthy plus a much bigger team with depth, Lets Go Hawks!!!

Having only Kane and Toews left from the cup winners now will take some of the starch out of the year for me but I'm God damned tired of losing hockey and this team should be a lot better. I'd still like a power forward with size, talent and snarl but that's never been pursued for some reason, the team could reach the 90pt mark IMO.....maybe a bit more if things go right.

Yeah it's tough to see only 2 left from the 3 Cups. Times are a changin. Top 6 powerforwards are hard to find and most teams keep them, hopefully the Hawks get one or one of Morrison, Slavin, Hayworth, or Hardman can develop into one. And my prediction is 93pts and 7th in the West, or maybe they finish 3rd in the Central.

Open night forward lines might look like this:
Debrincat-Johnson-Kane Kubalik-Toews-Hagel Strome-Dach-Borgstrom Gaudette-Carpenter-Khaira
Personally I'd switch Johnson with Strome or Borgstrom, I like Tyler but some size and reach would be nice on that line. Dachs been shooting a lot in the preseason but with Kane and Debrincat he'd pass way to much, can't blame him, but let him run a line not going against top defenders.
Edit: just noticed Entwistle and Kurashev are back up because it was only paperwork till Shaw and Kalynuk were on the LTIR. No way Hagel sits but I can see Entwistle in Gaudettes spot on the 4th line, those 3 have good chemistry.

As for the D it'll probably be:
Jones-McCabe Murphy-Stillman Mitchell-de Haan
Gus can get some soft serve and watch.

Nathan MacKinnon is out for their home opener vs the Hawks, Covid protocol.
Good news for Chicago.

Power forwards are hard to find especially when you never look for one.........#1 D-men and elite goaltenders are even harder to find but we found em,easy, just spend a lot of $$$$$$$. I didn't know we already had a few in Rockford.....no wonder we never pursue one.

Rehab or not, 23 now and after playing the equivalent of two full AHL seasons and one in the NHL the supposed talented Nylander should be lined up with Reichel and someone tougher and skilled, and he’ll impress me if he gets somewhere near a ppg.

I can't see him making any NHL team again. Maybe a stubborn Stan will force him in here and there, but the guy seems like a perpetual floater. No drive, no toughness, and no enough effort.

Let the 2021-22 meltdown for the Avs begin with the opener. Hope the Hawks can take advantage of his absence. They usually wait till May. They wanted to get started on disappointing their fans right from the get go. Hopefully, the Hawks realize what a gift they got to have MacKinnon not playing and play hard and get 2 points. If they don't, it might say something about the Hawks. After all, the Avs have no Nathan and the Hawks have the Cat, Kane and Toews. If those are worth their salt, they ought to lead the Chicago squad to a victory.

Colliton is reminding me of Dallas Eakins when he was promoted to head coach of the Oilers. Full of new ideas but he lost the team and he, and unfortunately due to some over zealous fans, and his family had to hear about it. It might be the best thing for Colliton to get canned, find another gig in the AHL or Europe and learn his craft and rebuild his resume if he ever wants to work in the NHL again.

Here’s a statement from Stan Bowman that was released by the team when Colliton was extended. “Jeremy has shown an innate ability to develop young talent throughout his two seasons as head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks,” said Stan Bowman, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager. “This, coupled with his vast knowledge of the game, exceptional communication skills and determination to win, makes us extremely confident Jeremy has what it takes to lead our team back to an elite level as we continue to build a roster that can compete year in and year out.” This is from Bowman, the tip of hockey knowledge in the Blackhawks organization. Maybe the biggest problem is the great seer in the corner office.

It’s their business to destroy but if they give a man multiple titles including president, head of hockey operations and general manager then he should allowed to make the hockey decisions. Why else hire him? The owners are acting on his advice but they’re the accountants. A winning team puts cash in the register. The point of owning a business. Shouldn’t Stan have to take responsibility for miscues that harm the product? Maybe he’s too big to fail. Or maybe the problem is like any suffering business there are layers of lackeys and sycophants that insulate the stratum above them from repercussions. The team may still turn it around, and we all hope it does, but if it continues down this route how long does the team wait to make changes?

SB's poor trades were Q's fault till he got the boot and then they were McD's fault till he got the boot and I guess the owners are the only guys left to blame for these awful trades.....which awful trades you ask.....or even if you didn't......LOL..... I pointed out the wasted and expensive summer of '19' when it happened and a LOT since... Ate $$$ to make Mattaa go away after one year Can't eat enough to make deHAAN-job go away after two How much have we paid Shaw not to play? Everybody but DUMASS knew he was damaged goods but if the Habs ate some $$$ and included some picks,it wouldn't of been a bad deal for a rebuilding team but they ate nothing and got a 2nd and a 3rd for a guy who was finished.......just awful! Rocky told DUMASS to trade a 20yro D-man drafted in the 1st round for a total turd? Spent about 20M that summer and another 20M plus this summer........wouldn't most GM's be able to improve their team with 40M at their disposal? What if..... We didn't waste 8.6M on Maata and deHAAN-job.......Jones only got 900K more than those two. WE didn't tie up 3.9M for three years on Shaw and lose a 2nd and a 3rd too? DUMASS admitted he had his eye on NOlander for some time before that debacle. We got Vegas' 2nd for Lehner which'll be a late round 2nd and paid 5M for that pick. We also paid Zack Smith 3.5M to watch the team play......good thing he retired or DUMASS might have extended him.

It's pretty telling how much the broadcasters try to sell tickets throughout every game. They can't go 10 minutes without stressing how great it is to see the game live and to be able to see the action behind the plays. Like people don't already know that. Seems like desperation.

Seems like they're worried fans will stop going to games, if things don't change, starting at home vs the Islanders, fans should boycott the team till Colliton is let go.

yeah, the schilling of tickets is annoying.
the schilling of how good of a job was done in the off season and how awesome the folks in charge were on the radio by ole Colby during game one was even worse...
