I don't mind the way Enwistle is coming along one bit to be honest, big frame and he's still 22.....some of those guys take a bit longer. Probably taking him longer since he has been misused the last 3 years in development. i'm curious as to why you'd say that?

You won't catch me advocating for the org's ability to assess and develop players,it was never great and it's really gone down hill the last 3 1/2 years since they booted Q. Some real bad decisions were made as far as assessment and development hasn't gone well for many young players here without a doubt but Cat and Hags caught right on. Better hockey people are needed from the top on down AND in Rockford but it seems Entwistle is getting his chance. Covid F'd up a lotta young guys development in the A the last two years but Entwistle's pedigree is fairly mediocre with one good OHL season as a 20yro and one decent/shortened AHL season. I like what I see from him......do you think he should have come up as a 20yro? See top six minutes?

Earlier in the season, (before Khaira, Reese Johnson and Riley Stillman went down with injuries and before Mike Hardman was returned to Rockford for more seasoning), the Hawks were playing a very heavy game, out-hitting their opponents every night by a wide margin and winning board battles. This was during the early days of the coaching change - and the team looked much better at the time.
Lately, the situation has reversed. The Hawks consistently are being physically dominated by the bigger teams - especially St. Louis.
The real problem is that the top six at forward is very small, especially on the wing. Kane is a complete non-factor in the corners. Debrincat and Hagel might be willing to engage, but they just do not have the size to be difference makers. Kurashev also is small and timid. Kubalik seems only half-interested most nights. These players do fine against teams like the Devils. But when they play the big boys, there is little to no fight back.
There is hope on the horizon: Reese Johnson should return soon, and Hartman is showing some signs of life in the AHL. But these are fourth liners who play a few minutes a game. The Hawks need to re-think their top six, especially on the wing. It is too small for today's game. A good team might be able to carry one or two small forwards, but not this many.
They will never win in the playoffs with this type of roster.

The team has bigger forwards but they're PUSSIES and that's not D-Cat or Hagel's fault, both play plenty tough. These three wingers, two elite and one on his way possibly are small-framed and could use some bigger, tougher linemates but they get PUSSIES. All the guys you mentioned in your first sentence are either fringe players or AHL'ers or can't stay healthy like Stillman. Dach and Strome are big kids.........I'm 65 and I could bang their heads together! Play Kane,Cat and Hags with a real tough linemate or two and they could REALLY produce but they have PUSSIES for linemates here and it's THEIR fault? It's a shame to see Hags out with Dach and Kubs but he set em both up a time or two. Our top forward prospect is 170lbs and our top D prospect is wait for it.......161lbs..........so trade D-Cat and Hags? Once again......I hope to God you're right and Cat and Hags get a chance to play for a real team......Kane can make his own decision.

Bob - Pick one or two to keep. Trade the others.
I keep Kane. I keep one of Debrincat or Hagel (and only if the player's agent is more than reasonable). Kurashev goes. So does Kubalik. Reichel is coming. Perhaps he needs to go too.
The team can't carry so many small physical non-entities (all playing top six minutes). Winning in this sport requires players who can win physical battles while on the ice for important minutes. Adding a John Scott accomplishes nothing.
The whole thing is Bowman's fault. For most of his reign, he thought he was smarter than all the other general managers who understood physicality mattered.
The big PUSSIES can go too.

I like bigger forwards too but our top two goal scorers happen to be small framed but tough dudes........put some bigger forwards with them! Both win MORE than their share of battles..........a lot more than their bigger teammates. Does that include Dach?

What team can really afford him? So there is little point in shopping him. He also carries a.no-trade clause and has earned the right to choose where he goes. Kane will likely be willing to re-sign on a short term deal after next year at a small fraction of what it will cost to retain Debrincat who is just entering his peak contract years. I also believe Kane is still the driver of the offence and not Debrincat. Regarding Dach - he is 20. Give him three years.

Somehow the Knights were able to fit in Eichel, it can be done, yes I understand the age difference, and where they are in their careers. My point is there are many ways to accomplish your objectives, successful people are able to persuade, get creative all part of the negotiation/selling process. If you do not even try you lose any advantage or benefit that would help you when you do go ahead and move him at next year's trade deadline. I disagree about not shopping him, any GM needs to listen; look you sit down with Kane and have an honest conversation about his future. This is all about being good communicator, listener and almost all players would be appreciative with this approach.

Not sure what you are getting at Niko if 88 wanted to go somewhere he would let them know. Getting trade offers on a player that brought you 3 cups and has a NMC is complete disrespect no way to treat the player. I guess if we treat Kane like Buff treated Eichel would could get him moved. I get where you are coming from Niko but I also believe 88 is aware of it also ball should stay in his court. Under rules that cant talk extensions til after this year I believe. Welcome to the boards also you bring good stuff!! I hope I was not being an a$$

he is going to get those records in Chicago...

Well watching Davidson’s interview- it was pretty clear a rebuild is what is coming. Either he or Danny W said the straying from a longer term plan lengthens the rebuild - an overt swipe at Bowman. I found that encouraging actually.

My point is you definitely go to Kane first and get a sense or where he is at and have an honest conversation, you just do not shop him behind his back. Look these are tough, sensitive and difficult conversations and good executives need to explore all options. In his presser yesterday KD I believe used the word elite communicator with is next coach hire, so obviously this is important to him to instill/practice in the organization. We are looking a rebuild that will take 3-5 years minimum and it is going be ugly before it gets better.

This is why I was hoping that the Hawks would have hired Sharp for the role, or perhaps as AGM. He is the only guy I feel who could convince Kane & Toews to waive their NMCs so he could trade them. Sharp can talk about how it feels to get traded, how it feels to be retired, and give them something to look forward to as hockey players who had already won 3 Cups while they were young. Kane & Toews really looked up to Sharp while they were team mates and I think they would listen to him and take his advice now.

he hasn't shown much since he's been back (or before his surgery as far as that goes) but i imagine he's got a ways to go to get back to 100% game shape. anyways, good it all worked out for him. maybe a pain free TJ will be a better player.

All the more reason to put him on the 4th line with Carp and Laff, but no, King puts him on the 2nd with Toews and Debrincat. Glad he feels good though, that's a major surgery.

King's lines have not made a lot of sense to me. Is he trying to win - or trying to showcase trade bait - or is he "resting" certain guys - or just throwing darts? Not sure it really makes all that much difference with this team's record but it doesn't seem to have "a plan" to it.

With three back-backs left, does this mean Lanks only sees three more starts? I got to think it will depend on what MAF wants to do. If he feels up to it, let him. If he wants to play, who are these coaches to tell him what to do.
