This season is starting to look like last season.
good enough to beat the lousy teams but not good enough to beat the good teams. The result is another pick outside of the top 3. Somewhere between 4-15 (15? im being generous), but the placement doesnt matter, because it belongs to CBJ anyway
the worst part is, last season was short, this time its going to be a full 82 games of watching one line score and a defense that shows they can be great once in a while but looks clueless most nights - same can be said about the goaltending.
Its going to be a long season of players auditioning for permanent big club position and our perception is going to be filled with hope, thinking "hey these kids can play, (someone) is improving, wait til next year" and next year will come, we'll realize that kid have hit his ceiling Followed by another offseason of roster overhaul. whatever chemistry from the previous season is thrown out the window. We'll see new faces in the roster again and we'll cling to that as an excuse of "takes time to develop camaraderie" while they continue to suck
The new President, GM or coach will do exactly the above, and I say we go the "full Arizona" in 2022. Hows the 2023 top pick doing? any generational talent there?

Hows the 2023 top pick doing? any generational talent there? The top two picks in 2023 look absolutely marvellous. Connor Bedard and Mishkov. We’re talking a Crosby/Ovechkin type draft here. Both generational talents. However. Most at the time would say the Hawks lost the 2006 and 07 drafts. But look how that panned out. So the idea is to pluck out 2-3 kids from the very top end of the draft board. Then get as many other picks as you can to rebuild this thing properly. I’m 💯 on board with a rebuild. Absolutely needs to happen!!!

I can’t say your argument is wrong. I agree with you that Vets are needed. Absolutely. But you don’t need Hall of famers. If anything. I’m starting to feel that Toews and Kane aren’t the guys to teach the next generation. Not everyone is a teacher. My buddy who works for me, he’s my carpenter who builds elevator shafts for residential elevators. He’s very good at his job. Very good. But he’ll be the first to admit that he’s horrible at teaching people. And if you learn from him, it’s on your own accord. Watch him I guess. And I suspect that Toews and Kane may be the same type thing. Very good players, but may be not the guys to teach you the ropes. I could be very wrong here. But I think I’m not far off. I really feel that guys like Seabs and Sharp, Keith and Hossa were guys to tag along with. I’ve never heard one player ever say that they lived with Toews or Kane. Seabs has had 2-3. Keith had Versteeg and a couple others. Hossa had the Slovaks like Kopecky. Anyways……… We can get great veteran leadership in many different ways. It doesn’t have to be Toews and Kane. It could very well be Dcat, or Jones etc. a rebuild will work fine. Can’t just say that only Toews and Kane are the only ones to bring the leadership!!! C'mon T What're gonna teach R Johnson,Entwistle and Hardman ect, ect,.how to get back n forth to Rockford? Toews has been seen working with Dach at FO's and Dach has regressed by 10% so far.....he's unteachable when it comes to FO's or at least he has been so far throughout his development. Patrick Kane has spent his time and several summers working with guys like D-Cat,Strome and a few other just to have a CLUELESS HC not play any of em together anyway. Teach Strome not to ignore defensive assignments? Kurashev to do ANYTHING useful? He did have a nice pass last night though(bout time).....good luck with that. Teach Borgstrom he's not in Europe anymore? What should Kane and Toews have taught a USELESS NOlander? How about a bus schedule, with departures from Chicago, only?

Take one guess on who leads the team in +/- and in fact is the only plus player presently on the roster.
The answer:
Erik Gustafsson is now a plus one. To be fair, he might be playing the best right now I have ever seen him play. No player has improved more since the coaching change.

Hopefully this momentum and confidence building continues as they try to climb out of that deep hole of the first 10 or 11 games. Sharks next tomorrow and it would be good to get 2 more points before they have 3 games in 4 days on the road in DC and NY.

Well my friends, the Gigster is at O'Hare after a truly wonderful visit with my dad, sibs and extended family. It was an awesome week. The highlight had to be my father and I sitting in Section 106, a very generous gift from my sister, as we watched the Cat Winner a mere stone's throw away. It was my first Hawk game in-person since 1999.

After I win the powerball tonight I'll have everyone brought in for a game in the Super Suites. All inclusive drinking and rides home.

I noticed that after the Blues game, only player who's a +, I'm shocked cause he was the worst dman in the first 12gms. Yes he's been better AC (After Colliton) but still a waste of a roster spot.

I didnt see this anywhere at the board, but did a lot of people knew Brent Seabrook is the league leader in shot blocks? (But it was just broken a few days ago) Was it common knowledge to Hawks fans? I didnt know, i feel ignorant

As has been posted, we don't have a Seabs today. I only have one jersey and it is #7. What a solid D-man - his teammates must have always had some extra confidence when he was out there.

I don’t think most realized how good he was. I argued many that he’d get the nod for the Hall of Fame. I still stand by that. It’s not just for the offensively gifted. And it also covers your whole body of work. Seabs won Gold at World Juniors. He won Gold at the Olympics. He won 3 Stanley Cups. Scored huge goals to clinch series wins. He has the resume to be in. First ballot? No. But he’ll get in. Kevin Lowe just got in and he played more games than Seabs, with the best team ever assembled, and he and had less points than Seabs. So I just don’t see how a guy so decorated with medals won’t get in. He was a leader of men, and he is the reason why his teams were always successful!!!

Seeing that he retired and looks like he moved back to his Vancouver roots, I doubt we see him again till "Last Skate" and 'number retirement night'.

At least Hawks got 4 out of a possible 6 points on the road and since it was against the East, who cares if the opponents got a point too. Stillman and Khaira are back and if only Toews and Kubalik catch some fire, they could be better still.

Stillman and Khaira are back and if only Toews and Kubalik catch some fire, they could be better still. Also, since King took over they haven't lost in back to back games and they've been scoring the first goal most games. So getting more scoring from those 2, and Dach, could extend leads and make teams open up, hopefully create more chances. Stillman was lucky his knee wasn't wrecked because of Gus, it looked good in his first game back and it was nice seeing him pin Clutterf*ck after he charged at Toews with his elbow out.

I think I still put JT and Kubs back together, especially since Hags has become the player I expected him to be. Leave those guys together for a few games and let's see if they can find some of what they had now that we have a winger who can replace Saad from two years back. This puts Kane and Cat back together too and if Strom can finish the chances Dach can't,maybe him in the middle......he and the Cat DO have some history AND this is the line Kane was practicing with and excited about two summers ago before Harry Potter had better ideas......he had few!

Right now it’s best that Dach goes to line 3 or 4 and earns his way. Boqvist now has 6 goals in 16 games on the 3rd pairing and top pp time. Dach should not be in the top 6 as of now. Top 6 should be Toews, Kane, Dcat, Hagel, Kubalik and Strome. And use them in any order you like. I was not the h biggest fan of Boqvist. I was just Ben lesser of a fan how they used him here. He never ever ever should have been used on the top pairing with an ever so aging Keith. It just sucks that the guys running the show were stupid on a smart day. The scouting dept got some decent talent in here and the management and coaching staff ruined the hell out of a lot of guys. I still see similarities with Dach on the top line. Just stupid!!!

It is hypocritical to put Strome on the top lines because he has not done much better than Dach. Strome has been on the lower lines the last two seasons playing against lesser talent and he has not been able to light the lamp on a regular or semi-regular basis.
