They could also bring up Connelly and see if he can do well enough to trade at the deadline for some sort of pick. Leave Connelly in Rockford to work with the kids on how to be professionals. He was leaned on heavily down there and respected. Some thing Dach should have had, be taught to be a pro. They may need his money in the NHL for the cap floor at some point, especially if more trades deplete the bigger contracts.

22.750 in cap space with only a handful of roster spots open. Money won't be an issue, still sign Strome, Kub and Chevy. Bring up a couple Rockford D-men for the year and still suck. Edmonton is demanding that by Saturday Keith make his intentions clear about next season. If he chooses retirement what is the recapture hit for the Hawks? I never remember this stuff. What's your workplace phone number and your boss's name?

They would be on the hook for a recapture penalty for the cap space they saved during the first 11 years of Keith’s contract. They would owe $7,476,918 over the next two seasons. They would have $5,538,462 deducted from their cap space for the 2022-23 season and $1,938,456 for the 2023-24 season.

Still kind've funny how he can be such an effective player down there and almost invisible on the big club. Different leagues i know but still...

Well I think the Cat trade could go down as one of the worse in team history. But it was a great middle finger to 88 and 19! I am a Dach fan but that trade might work out well As far as the Minn kid who knows but a good move to get the pick and you get a goalie who is a pro and won’t whine about going through this.Gonna be a long season at the UC in what I’m sure will be my last as a STH but what a great run !!!

From the games I watched in Rockford he was by far the best player on that team ouch

Agree, Marzek will be a good pro and looking to redeem himself which could bode well at next year's trade deadline

What's your workplace phone number and your boss's name? Trying to get me in trouble because I’m screwing the pooch? My dear old dad used to try and instill on me that the best money was hard earned. I tried to live by that creed but there was no way. Easy money is by far the best money imho. So you go ahead and let that pooch have it. : )

We’ll find out in a few minutes. I dont get this trade. They just helped out the leafs cap by taking on this lousy contract just to move up 13 spots in the draft? Is this the weaponizing capspace i keep reading about? Take it FWIW.

We've already out distanced last year's draft by 4 pages and we've still got the second draft day to go.
Well done.

Still a bad return on trade that take on a horrible contract. Here is an example; AZ takes on Kassian contract, they also got a 2025 2nd rounder and a 2024 3rd rounder (granted they only went up 2 spots) Meanwhile KD takes on mrazek just to move up 13 spots. He couldnt ask for extra picks? Like in 2024 or 2025? Reminiscent of SB trading and not asking for more.

If so the move makes sense. As far as the kassian trade it was basically take a healthy zack kassian's contract (2 years left at 3.2 mill) and we'll toss in a second and a third round pick. To me the oilers overpaid...at least imo.

He could be on the roster for his cap hit alone if one more good player goes though,he might be useful for making some other guys look better too.

What's so "great" about giving a middle finger to the two guys who came in as teenagers and rescued a failed franchise? 88&19 could return the favor by refusing to waive denying the team any return whatsoever and just using the year to do whatever is personally best for them and their next contracts. The GM said they know what we expect of them and something about a two-way street(Madison?........think that's a one way by the UC),I'm quite sure these two great players have had great expectations for themselves their whole lives. Force these two out,CC was already kicked to the curb and they washed their hands of Keith and Seabs too, could be some STRAINED relations between the great men responsible for the team's best hockey ever and the liquor merchants in charge but we had our 'Hossa night' and that seems enough for most to be able to move on. I believe you and I both had to move on from Bobby and Stan, took a while......didn't it?

Gavin Hayes with the 66th, so they got Nazar and Hayes for Dach.
Hayes sounds like a strong winger with speed, skill, and great release. 16 of his 19 goals were at even strength and 24 of his 32 points at even strength were primary points.
Another winger with a high motor and plays a complete game.

Looks like one common denominator for these Rd 2 and 3 picks is a high motor.
