Gavin Hayes with the 66th, so they got Nazar and Hayes for Dach. Hayes sounds like a strong winger with speed, skill, and great release. 16 of his 19 goals were at even strength and 24 of his 32 points at even strength were primary points. Another winger with a high motor and plays a complete game. I'm liking the trend towards above average skaters with excellent work ethics.

Still a bad return on trade that take on a horrible contract. Here is an example; AZ takes on Kassian contract, they also got a 2025 2nd rounder and a 2024 3rd rounder (granted they only went up 2 spots) Meanwhile KD takes on mrazek just to move up 13 spots. He couldnt ask for extra picks? Like in 2024 or 2025? Reminiscent of SB trading and not asking for more. Idk. Maybe mrazek was the type of goalie hawk's management had their eye on before the draft? If so the move makes sense. As far as the kassian trade it was basically take a healthy zack kassian's contract (2 years left at 3.2 mill) and we'll toss in a second and a third round pick. To me the oilers overpaid...at least imo. I understand what you mean and Holland is a moron. But Mrazek a type of goalie this mgmt had their eye on? That just sound so bad. I think they just had a hardon for this Rinzel guy and went with it. In the open market, taking on Mrazek contract would probably cost a 2nd or a 3rd alone. 13 spots just seem so little. I digress

Looks like one common denominator for these Rd 2 and 3 picks is a high motor. That's what I keep reading, Samuel Lavoie is a LW/C who's known for wreaking havoc around the net. Not tall at 5'10" but he's 189lbs, solid kid.

I remember the draft last yr and they were giddy about being in the same org. Im sure he’ll be all pro and go about his business and be the best hockey player he can be, but this might leave a sour impression and he might leave as fast as he could

good thing there aren't any picks in the 4th or 5th for the 'hawks so I can sort out all these picks already made this morning...err, afternoon...

Looks like one common denominator for these Rd 2 and 3 picks is a high motor. yep, high compete, high motor, and, at worst, acceptable speed. seems like a decent strategy if the goal is to fill out the bottom lines now and hopefully get that top top guy next draft...

snag two d men in the first, hoping one pans out to be a top pairing guy, and then it is high compete/speed forwards the rest of the way, apparently...

Last pick there was an overager at #90. I think TB got potentially the best of those in Edmonds at #86. I was hoping he would slip down more.

So Ludwinsky is our pick. Slight reach from his rankings. Not lacking confidence.

Rinzel, a 6-foot-3, 181-pound native of Chanhassen, Minn., split his 2021-22 season between Chaska High School in Minnesota and the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL, totalling 48 points (11G, 27A) in 48 games. Hmm...11+27 = 48 (I am guessing that it's closer to 40)...I can see how the hawks got themselves in trouble with the cap. I am glad that they hired a numbers guy.

He's 6'4" on hockeydb and elite prospects and they list heights and weights on the Sportsnet draft ticker and they said 6'4". And he did have 48pts in 48 combined games this year, not sure why it shows 27a.

Knows how to goaltend, but is not going to steal any games like a MAF would. If these draft moves didn't happen I would have expected a similar signing in the FA market.

So Ludwinsky is our pick. Slight reach from his rankings. Not lacking confidence. That's a good thing when talking about his defensive play and work ethic, something the Hawks need with their forwards. Bonus he's a good skater, hard shot, and he wants to be more calm around the net like Kaner.

#188 Nils Juntorp, 6'1"" 186lbs RW who was just under a point per game in the Swedish jr league.
#199 Riku Tohila, 6'5" 190lbs C.
Lots of centers and wingers in this draft, one center who should be a top6 guy, and two high end dmen.
Was a little upset they didn't take Del Bel or Luneau with the 39th but Ludwinski sounds like a ball of energy.

Why do the Hawks seem to limit themselves to players from the US every draft? Seems to me they are missing out on a lot of good players out there.

what do you think of the return for DeBrincat? It's a joke. I used to get angry when Bowman used to make all his stupid moves, but now at this point I just don't care anymore. Total apathy.

Why do the Hawks seem to limit themselves to players from the US every draft? Seems to me they are missing out on a lot of good players out there. Their 7th is from the WHL, they also took a player from the OHL plus a Swede and Finn. The majority are from the US but they seem like good picks. Doesn't matter where they're from as long as they work hard and progress.
