Rinzel, a 6-foot-3, 181-pound native of Chanhassen, Minn., split his 2021-22 season between Chaska High School in Minnesota and the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL, totalling 48 points (11G, 27A) in 48 games. Hmm...11+27 = 48 (I am guessing that it's closer to 40)...I can see how the hawks got themselves in trouble with the cap. I am glad that they hired a numbers guy. Who wrote or said that? He's 6'4" on hockeydb and elite prospects and they list heights and weights on the Sportsnet draft ticker and they said 6'4". And he did have 48pts in 48 combined games this year, not sure why it shows 27a. It was on the Hawks' official web site. I assume that his other 10pts came from his high school games.

Why do the Hawks seem to limit themselves to players from the US every draft? Seems to me they are missing out on a lot of good players out there. Their 7th is from the WHL, they also took a player from the OHL plus a Swede and Finn. The majority are from the US but they seem like good picks. Doesn't matter where they're from as long as they work hard and progress. That's just it. It shouldn't matter where they're from, but they seem to prioritize US players. Their no 7 overall was a reach at that spot.

That's the NHL's official site and it was written by Carter Baum, it has nothing to do with their numbers guy Greenberg. And he didn't get 27A in either league so Carter is clueless.

I think this approach was the way to go for the beloved.
That said, I think Tazer and Kaner are now truly expendable under these circumstances. Since #19 has been looking cross-eyed at a rebuild, and this is now a long-term rebuild, he may just be ok with a trade elsewhere to a team that's ready to sip the champagne.
Kaner is now the only one to fear and will be working on passing to himself. It could be time for him as well.
Now that this team is steeped in it, I don't even see either Tazer or Kaner like the Sedin twins for Vancouver in their last couple of years or so.

Tohila is an off the wall pick. Some words in your article about him... "Offensive sense and skill debatable" "Well behind the curve, naive" "Not a player i had down as having a chance of getting picked" "Obscure" "small town" Listed at 6'5" and 190 lbs. but no reason to doubt lazerus' tweet in the article saying he's 6'8". I'm sure the body dimensions of the draftees are current. At least i hope they are in this case. A 6'8" center could take a draw at center ice while still defending the blue line. Hell, byfuglien was a 245th overall. At 199th this guy's likely taking the opening draw this season. : )

So Ludwinsky is our pick. Slight reach from his rankings. Not lacking confidence. Same with this kid.

Maybe it's just a deep dive where no body else wanted to go. If he even makes it over here it's almost a win just for the entertainment of following an underdog like him.

Hope they aren't shattered when they're not walk on's immediately. Yeah they’re in for a rude awakening. That said the overall skating ability of “elite” 18 year olds is definitely better than it was 20 years ago. But the checking, tight spaces and hitting will be an eye opener for most of these kids.

Hope they aren't shattered when they're not walk on's immediately. Hayes had better not make the team. Wheeler would put him on a stretcher first game first period we play against the jets. Better he makes the team in about 4 years when wheeler has cooled down or retired. : )

Similar to 7th rounder and 6'8"er Crevier, although he had 10 goals his draft/rookie year. He impressed enough for a contract and had a great season. It'll be awesome if Tohila progresses enough to be a Hog or long shot, Hawks.

interesting with all these picks not a goalie among them. I guess we always have Scott Foster in a pinch. In the last 21 drafts going back to the 01/02 draft and including this year's draft the hawks have passed on picking a goalie 8 times. However, this is the 2nd draft in a row in which they haven't picked a goalie. They hadn't done that since the 08/09 season. They're either comfortable with commesso and soderblom or there just wasn't a goalie available that blew their hair back.

I think they would have added another one if the planets and stars had aligned. They will probably pick one or two next year.

Add Stauber and Weeks to the goalie depth chart, big young guys with some potential. I'm ok not drafting a goalie every year because there can be some good ones that go undrafted. They typically take longer to progress.

After watching Frank Nazar highlights I'm excited to see this kid develop, a lot of people had him in the top10 and Korchinski outside the top10, so it all worked out.
I still can't get over the fact his first time skating he was a natural. Just like switching to center 2yrs ago, he said he had 5pts and called his former coaches afterwards and said "I told you so", with a big smile on his face.
He's a shoot first center who's equally as good with deking or passing making him a huge threat in the middle. And his 92% zone entry was the top of this draft class, that really opens things up in the offensive zone.

I’ve been trying to post. We’re in Toronta for a tourney. However, Rogers communication had a cyber attack and the whole country seems to be shutting down. ATMs don’t work, debit isn’t working. Internet is working 14% of the time. Geez. We should rethink our society. Too much relying on technology!!!

Dont post here much but this guy is touted as a hagel clone and seems to have the traits davidson is looking for. Ludwinski is a 5’11” and 183-pound left-handed center/winger who spent all of the 2021/2022 season with the Kingston Frontenacs. He got better as the year went along, even featuring on Shane Wright’s line, and had an excellent OHL playoffs. The 18-year-old forward is a ball full of energy. He’s one of the best skaters in this draft (speed, stride and acceleration), he’s persistent (hard on pucks, wins countless puck battles and endless motor), and he’s very versatile.wallymaz.substack.com/p/2022-nhl-draft-prospect-profile-paul?r=6bpcw&s=w&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=webGood call, went at 39 not 38 but I like everything I've heard and seen from this kid, definitely sounds like a Hagel clone. He started the season on Wrights wing but struggled, after he was moved to 2C he flourished and that's where he should play, but he's very versatile. One scout said he's all gas and no brake. He had 7g-5a=12pts in 11 playoff games. This kid could be a perfect 3C or possibly a 2C with his high motor and 2way play.
