personally, I'm not sure anyone really wants to play this team right now. if they use their brains and keep Lyon in net, they might give a favored team a bit of trouble in the first round. they are playing well in front of him right now. not sure they'll go too far, either, but I could see them surprising a team (or two, if they played Toronto). Fully agreed. They're one of the best teams currently at the end of the season. Not as dominant as last season but that Tkachuk kid really might be a weapon for the playoffs. They basically had to play PO hockey to get in and he has already proven to be as advertised. On the other side, Hoobeydoobey's performance in POs will be very similar to his last year's... You mean Huberdeaus golf game, since he'll be watching the playoffs in the comfort of his home

So 3 Panthers were seriously injured during the playoff run:
Eckblad suffered a broken foot in the Boston series
Eckblad also suffered a dislocated shoulder in the Carolina series
Loustarinen suffered a broken fibula in the Carolina series
Tkachuk suffered a broken sternum in the Vegas series

spencer knight enrolled in the player assistance program due to OCD. kind of a fascinating illness in a weird sort of way. he says it started with excessive hand washing and ended up being so paranoid about catching a disease he couldn't function. good on him for getting help. seems like he's on top of things now. he'll be one of many interesting stories to follow this coming season like there is every year. thehockeynews.com/news/exclusive-spencer-knight-on-why-he-sought-help

Lot of new faces on Panthers this season. Defense hurting especially early with no Ekblad and Montour due to injuries and no Gudas who left as a FA.
Bottom 6 doesn't appear to be strong and the loss of Duclair may come back to bite them.
Panthers will have to hold it together until they get Ekblad and Montour back. If they can't, the hole they'll be trying to get out of will just be too big

Craziest period of hockey I think I've ever seen between the Panthers and Ottawa Senators. And of course the Tkachuk brothers are at center stage of it. It started out with a 3rd period check by Matthew Tkachuk that was clean. Another Ottawa player took exception and skated over and elbowed Tkachuk in the head and both players fell to the ice. Ottawa player got a 5 minute match penalty and game misconduct, and from there all hell broke lose. A bit later, Tkachuk got into a fight, and received a 2 minute minor for removing his helmet before the fight began, plus a 5 minute major. Not to be outdone by his brother, Brady shortly after interfered with Bobrovsky after the puck was frozen, skating across the crease and bumping him. And all hell broke lose as all the players on the ice got into it behind the goal. And I guess the refs had enough, assessing every skater on the ice with 10 minute misconducts (there was under 8 minutes to go in the game), and Brady doubled up his brother by getting 2 for goalie interference, 2 for roughing, plus the 10 minute misconduct. But that wasn't the end, later in the period, 2 more players were assessed 10 minutes misconducts. In the end, Ottawa had 7 players out of the game, and the Panthers 6.
The best part......Matthew and Brady's parents were both at the game......they must have been so proud lol

Panthers shut out 4-0 twice in a row. First by Kraken and then Canucks. Of course Hawks run out of Seattle 7-1 and now will host Vancouver - yikes!

Watched some of the Panthers at Avs game this afternoon. Florida looking good. If they stay healthy they’re going to be a tough out in the playoffs - again. The Avs announcers are terrible.

korpisalo has let in 5 on just 25 shots not even 2 periods in. crowd loving it on their banner raising night.
tough start for boqvist.
i was hoping entwistle would stick with the panthers organization. fingers crossed someone picks him up.

Boqvist doesn't have much luck, only 6 shifts and 4+mins of ice time and done for the game.

That was the best 'Banner raising night' performance I've seen from a defending champ in a LONG,LONG time! Maurice had his boys 'ON THE BIT' right from the start,mid-season form on 'Banner night' and almost 20K HIGHLY engaged hockey fans for opening night at Sunrise? Are you kidding me?
I woulda liked to see the Hawks target 'Son of Sam' Bennett two summers ago,his value wasn't as high and Fla still had a few question marks after losing in the SCF. The guy checks all the boxes!
I often think of what Q coulda achieved with the Panthers to finish-off his HoF career given the chance but I don't think any HC gets more out of that team than Paul Maurice has and continues to. Q didn't have Tkachuk,Ekblad was hurt more often than not and 'Bob' was a shell of himself compared to his last two seasons but that doesn't change the fact that Maurice is the best HC in the game today.

The last 3 times Knight started the Panthers scored 1 goal in each game.
