jaylen luypen in the lineup. That's a good sign for a kid just out of juniors to make the lineup in the playoffs. Must've impressed the coaches in practice. He's a hard worker like Hagel, even better that he's a center who was over 50% in the WHL.

Well tough night end of the day not much talent there. Bad penalty by Hardman after they took lead downhill after that. Id say about 70% full was expecting more. I really hope the hawks give Lucas a chance next year and get him someone who thinks the game at his level. Phillips with a good game til meltdown at end. Not much development for Regula or Teply.Bloom looked ok. Hopefully get one Sunday be last game in Rockford this year

Not the outcome we all wanted, although at least Rockford was in the game almost the whole time. Reichel did have a rough night. Besides being a -4, on the Stars first goal Reichel had carried the puck into the offensive zone and then had it knocked off his stick, which immediately started a rush the other way that the Stars capitalized on. It was a good stick check by the Stars player. Anderson's goal came from a tip on a nice shot by Vlasic.

One positive is Vlasic getting 2 more assists. 4a in 3gms.
And Busdeker scored his first playoff goal, he had 1a in 5gms last year, 1g-1a in 3gms so far this year.

Would like Lucas to play with Gust and sweeny sunday but we will see

Poor showing by the kids. Played like the big league club safe and scared until the Joey A goal then they played out of there minds and brought it, but just went through motions until then. Dont be fooled by Vlasics -2 he played a great game looked fantastic. Im sure Bloom would want the 3rd goal back I Phillips showed great flashes all in all disappointing game.

I haven't seen a minute of Rockford's playoff games but checking to scoresheet I've not noticed Reichel's name on it very much. Can someone who has watched the games describe how he has been playing and why he hasn't hit the scoresheet more?

I think Lucas thinks the game at a high level not many on that team that see the game at his level. PP 1 has been outplayed by PP2 . End of the day he has to play better hopping for some line shuffling.

Let's hope Wednesday's game isn't the IceHogs last game of the season. Anderson's goal was a good one.

Next year is the final year of the kid's ELC,it'll be his only full season to prove value for his upcoming re-do,(IF he sees the full year)and that final year will be spent on a bottom-feeding,tank team with mediocre at best linemates. He know this too! Young and skilled enough to be flipped for even more picks? it would "clear the decks" of more of the last guy's picks wouldn't it?

That's kinda what I was thinking/wondering but didn't want to say it because it sounds like I'm offering an excuse without actually see him play. I do think that can be "a thing" though where a player struggles to play up to his capabilities because he doesn't have teammates who can play at his level. I've thought that about Reichel and a few other players through the years. Hopefully the Hawks can surround him with high end players and he will thrive.

Ugly series for the Hogs, seemed like Vlasic was the only bright spot. Reichel didn't score till the final minute when it was 4-1, too late.

Disappointing playoff run. I was hoping the young guys (especially Reichel and Vlasic) would get in another round or two of valuable experience.

I am no scout nor have I followed the IceHogs closely. Still, I think it is well past time to assess what has been going on down there the past several years.
The IceHogs were loaded with veteran players and did not put up much of a fight this year. Even more concerning to me is the lack of real progress among the many prospects percolating there. Ian Mitchell was at one point a grade A prospect. So far, he has not shown much as a pro. Beaudin fizzled out as did Slavin, Barrett, Altybarmakian, Nylander and others. Now apparently so has Galvas and Teply.
We are led to believe that Phillips, Regula and Vlasic are on the cusp and that Soderblom might be the solution in goal..... But given the team's recent track record in player development, I am concerned that these scouting reports might be more hot air.
A full reassessment of the coaching staff in Rockford along with the overall player development program is long overdue.

Absolutely. Reichel is the only player that I can think of that’s had any real success at the NHL level. And that’s a small sample size. I’d like to see a house cleaning and get things going in a better direction too!!!

This is critical. If the young draft picks can’t be properly developed then the whole rebuild effort comes apart.

Is it too soon to speculate about young F prospects next season for Rockford. Assuming Reichel stays with the Blackhawks next season, the only new young F's I can think of offhand that will likely be in Rockford would be Dach, Jalen Lypen, Ryder Rolston, and Antti Saarela, with Dach being the highest pick. Gavin Hayes is shown under "Roster' on the Rockford website but I thought his only options were the whole year with the Blackhawks or back in juniors.
Who did I leave out? Will Teply return?

According to the coach (Sorensen) he expects Phillips and Vlasic both to be "studs". Reality, hoping or coach speak to build confidence. Now what is the definition of a stud. Here is the definition for a sports stud: A stud is a person who is incredibly skilled in a particular discipline, whether it be intelligence or physical ability. Sports fans often use it to describe talented athletes, often younger ones who are up-and-coming.

Do you see any reason Beaudin was traded for nothing instead of just going back to Rockford? Same with Borgstrom, you buy-out a 25yro center who played 50+ games the year before vs just sending him down too? Mitchell would also have benefitted from playing #1 minutes in Rockford vs playing once a week with the big club IMO and his value might have benefitted too. Back-back solid AHL seasons look better on a resume than being a healthy scratch on a bottom feeder will. All three very well might never pan-out but if only one of em broke-through,it woulda been worth it. Reichel has stated that he sees himself as an NHL player and I agree! If he's sent down again to start next season, they might as well move him too because he's close to spoiling now. How many 'bad attitudes' developed in Rockford after watching veteran after veteran added to the log-jam? Lucas Reichel has seen his German teammates,Stutzel and Seider get massive opportunity with the rebuilding clubs that drafted them in the first round,Stutzel's already signed a huge deal and Seider will too. What will Reichel's bridge-deal look like even with a decent season next year? 2M? Or just a cheap QO? Other than 33 NHL game checks the last two years, the kid's been making 80K a year as his minors' salary and I'd bet he's had enough of that too.
