We have seen defensemen fully develop at various stages of their careers. I know he is on the smaller size, but with the pipeline already stocked with some big boys, why not give him an extended look with the big club. Put him out there in all situations powerplay, shorthanded, starting in defensive zone, what is the downside? Look at Forsling (almost same size) and what his doing with the Panthers, we basically gave him away and afraid Mitchell might be headed down the same path. Btw, Cale Maker is listed at the same height as Mitchell.

Totally agree on Mitchell. When he first came up he looked good on offense and the 2nd PP unit - had good mobility on the blue line. He seemed to get overmatched in his own zone in the corners and stuff so maybe that’s why he was sent down for “seasoning” and then had the injury(s) and competition with other Dmen that were brought in. So give him a chance now!!

5 years in the "W" on 3 teams, then 3 years at the university of alberta before 3 seasons with stockton in the AHL. he wore an "A" with the kootenay ice and a "C" with the red deer rebels.

maybe a bit early to say this but he's having a possible breakout year in rockford with 10g, 6a in 13 games.

in the site below he's projected to finish the season with 55 goals. that'd be nice.

Reichel no points in the home and home with Wolves. It is picky but I’m not seeing a dangerous scoring threat here. And I hope I’m proved wrong by a scoring outburst in the coming games!

Three older players with more AHL exp. are ahead of him, and all three in the same number games; Gust with 18 pts, 8g & 10a; the player whose last name looks misspelled, with 16 pts, 10g & 6a; and Seney with 16 pts, 7g & 9a.

Is Reichel playing on the second line? The game sheet has six names, including the starting G, in bold, which I thought indicated they were the six out there for the opening faceoff. In the last two games vs the Wolves; Gust, Philp and Seney upfront were all in bold.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think Reichel should be putting up a little more offense this season since he's already got a year of AHL exp. under his belt, plus a little time in the NHL, and hopefully is a little stronger.
Could the addition of Gust, Philp and Seney be a partial reason since now Reichel isn't the whole offense.

I would think the Hawks may not be too concerned as long as Reichel is getting better in the areas that he needed to work on.

Good summary of the actual situation in Rockford. You’re more familiar than I am and I agree that as long as he is working on his game there shouldn’t be concern about scoring - and it’s a very short time sample to examine too.

Just looking at the +/- stats shows me the pairings on defense, Regula & Philips are probably the first pairing, and then Vlasic and Crevier must make up the Two Towers and finally it must be Clendening and Galvas. All with leftie/rightie combos. I’d still like to see TOI for AHL games.

Now that Jones the Elder is back and the Hawks are carrying two extra dmen, it's likely that Mitchell is the one to return to Rockford. He'll have to play and since he's a rightie I'd 86 Clendening and let the youngsters play.

hogs' offense starting to wake up it appears.
hogs 3 for 5 on the pp, the pk was 2 for 4. no shorties against this time.

edit: both of reichel's assists were primary and both were dandy ones.

Nice win against a team ahead of them in the standings. I knew Mitchell would play so I had a feeling Crevier would sit. Too bad, Clendening is the past, the only defenceman in the minuses, and heavily at that. Mitchell, Regula, Vlasic, Philips and Galvas are all ahead of the new pro Crevier so I don’t see how he gets much ice anymore unless there’s callups and such.
