So far I'm okay with that. Korch hasn't looked out of place. I'm sure he'll find himself out of his depth occasionally but what rookie D hasn't shown that?

ESPN said during the Bruins game Korchinski isn't going back to juniors, so I'm not sure if it's true. They also showed he's 6'1" 185lbs, he's closer to 6'4" and 196lbs.

The NHL site still has 6'8" Crevier at 6' and under 200lbs Plus it was reported in the summer that Korchinskis 196lbs. And no way he's around the same height as Kaiser. Side by side with Del Mastro they're almost the same height, he's 6'4".

All the NHL site can do is report what they're given by the teams and the Hawks have been notorious for not updating player's sizes since I can remember. Every player and prospect gets weighed and measured in every way possible at every camp these days, how hard can it be to get the league an updated list? We know Reichel no longer weighs the 170lbs he weighed at as rook too,but the site says otherwise.

Yeah I don't get it, he's definitely not 170lbs anymore and he said in an interview he's in the mid 180s, even Goodman said it. Someone needs to do their job and update the heights and weights. But it looks bad when ESPN showed it a few times that Korchinskis 6'1" 185lbs, he's clearly taller and heavier than Kaiser.

I doubt the Hawks are the only team that does it,but it seems the heights and weights reported when the players are drafted/acquired rarely if ever get updated. It doesn't matter much with vets acquired but it sure does with the 18-20yro prospects who are maturing into young frames. We've discussed this before and I remember noticing Ottawa listed D-Cat @5'8" 180lbs after acquiring him,he was still listed @his rookie size of 5'7" 165lbs his entire five years here. Like you,I doubt Korch is still 185lbs,I doubt Entwistle's still 184,I doubt Kaiser's still 173 and we know Reichel's nowhere close to the 170 he was when he was drafted. But like I said,I'm not sure if this is common amongst NHL teams.

Hence why they all look alike in format just with team colors. Same thing happened in all the sports leagues.

Quality and pride of workmanship is becoming more rare with each passing year - I don't know why and don't have the ability nor the desire to get into the societal reasons for it - but it's plain to see being right there in front of you. The height/weight stats on team sites is an example. Is it important in the big picture to get that right? No, unless you consider it important to get things on principle alone. How much time and effort would it take to assign one person to research and update the heights/weights of team rosters - 1 week or 2 weeks? It's not done because whoever is responsible for team sites at NHL.com doesn't care enough about his quality of work to do better.
Very sad.

Unless he was counting on playing in them - I think this is fine. He is gaining confidence in the NHL and no need to look backwards.

He is gaining confidence in the NHL and no need to look backwards. sounds like he's okay with it although i doubt he'd say anything if he wasn't. i'm glad he won the gold last year. if he hadn't, i'd have been a bit pissed off at him missing it this year. as it stands now, i'm okay with him not going.

Unless they were gonna send him back to Seattle there is no reason for him to go to WJC. His home is here now. Hopefully in about 4-5 years he can represent his country again!!

Have there been any updates on KK's situation from the team? He's listed as a NON ROSTER player on CF.

Have there been any updates on KK's situation from the team? He's listed as a NON ROSTER player on CF. Unfortunately his father Larry has passed away at age 64. Zawaski reported that. Feel awful for the kid!!! Edit: The team has told him not to rush back and deal with this properly. My best guess is KK won’t be back till after Xmas. I think his family needs him right now!!!

Not the preferred way to get a team bonding experience. Here’s hoping Kevin can eventually resume his career when he’s up to it.

Going to add to that…still seems to be a good room, winning is fun and Blackwell getting it from Zaitsev says it’s not always about the stars. Good stuff.

Love the energy and the censored speech, play the right way and it gets rewarded. Nice to see Korchinski back with the boys and Blackwell working hard out there.

I lost my father to a massive heart attack when I was 16. It is devastating to someone that young. Good to see the team has his back.

KK showed last night the pros and cons of his game IMO. I honestly think he skates as well as Makar. He (and Bedard) is so used to being able to out skate the opposition that he takes risks and can cover twice the ice as most players. It can lead to highlight reel plays if successful - or - an opponent’s goal as we saw last night. I think he’s going to be quite the player when there is more up front scoring talent on the team. But for now he does have to learn how to “stay home” at times. The thing is, he is almost fast enough to do both but he’s got to be coached out of that.

I’m gonna say he does not need to be coached outta that. Can’t take the venom outta the viper. He needs to just learn when he can and can’t go. Opportunities that were there in Jrs will not be there now. He will learn. They watch video with the kids and show them. It’s great for kids to make those mistakes, they can be coached when and when not to go. However, the kid is looking like he’s gonna be something special. He’s only 19. Imagine him at 25/26? He’ll be good!!!
