I hope you haven't washed since then!!
My A-hole boss actually gave me that day off to go to the parade only because he knew what a huge Hawks fan I was (even though he made fun of them and hockey). I made it to the train station just in time to run up and watch the train pull away, loaded with Hawks fans. Man was it hot that day. I knew the next train would be too late so I went home and watched it on TV with the AC on. Still wish I would have made it there.

I had a Lil prick of a boss that year,he wasn't a sports fan in the least and took pleasure in scheduling guys so they'd miss whatever game was important to them. He told me to "quit my job and be a hockey guy" when I objected,I did exactly that and missed no PO game on TV,made two in person and the parade. They fired the little bastard a few months later and called me back from my hiatus.......I might have still been drunk.

This just popped up on my YouTube suggestions. Even back then Toronto sucked. well, as i'm sure you're well aware, the leaves have "out-cupped" us 13 to 6. anyways...that was awesome! boy, the game's sure changed. how the goalies used to hold their sticks for one.

Some of those names, Aurel Joliet, Red Horner, both HOF’ers. And maybe a young Foster Hewitt?

And then…..
Montreal corrects their mistake from 10 years earlier.

Too bad we couldn’t have had them both. Imagine Savard passing to the gifted Cloutier. But the WHA by lowering the draft age got the 17 year old Cloutier coming off a 93 goal, 216 point QMJHL season. Chicago drafted him two years later.

can any posters that were there that day spot themselves?
all joking aside....that is fucking impressive. i'd be curious to see pictures of a bigger celebration crowd (if they exist) in an nhl cup winning city.

^^^impressive again.
i'd have to say that when the leafs win their next cup that chicago's crowd will pale by comparison. i might add that it will be in 2070 and toronto's population will be upwards of 15 million.

I was on Washington, three blocks from Michigan Ave when the parade came by(front row)and it was about 10 deep on both sides. The amount of people along the parade route don't show in the Michigan ave pics but yeah......LOTTA Hawk fans that day. Never did battle on Michigan ave, found a cold beer,a cold bathroom and a TV to watch AND hear the festivities.....they must have poured me onto the train home.....perfect!

i think this qualifies as hockey history because i saw at least 2 camcorders in it. Bumped the post for the video alone but also to get another look at the crowds along the route before it turned onto Michigan ave. I thought I remembered a 10 deep crowd but that's whiskey memory....it looked 30 deep most of the way or at least once it hit the 'Loop'. Many did follow the procession to Michigan ave though.......looked like dogs chasin' a meatwagon!LOL!

i knew the guy was big but come on...he makes bobby hull look like darren pang's baby brother.
according the the WWW, this was taken in 1977 at a charity baseball game in calgary.
and another hockey related andre the giant picture of him holding up orr and vadnais like they were a couple of svelte bikini babes.
i'd love to have seen his gear if he ever played goal in hockey.

Gotta remember that Bobby was not that big compared to todays standards. He was 5'-10" 195lbs Andre was what, 7' 5" 400 lbs. He was a foot and a half taller.

i knew ace bailey and mark bavis died when their flight hit one of the WTC towers on 9/11 but i didn't know (or quite likely i've forgotten) that bruce boudreau was supposed to be on that flight as well, but for a twist of fate that saved his life. www.nhl.com/wild/news/boudreau-sept-11-feature/c-300043194
