GREAT article....I wish it was LONGER! It's satisfying to see how well Big Hoss is doing these days after he did so much for us!

We haven't had that since. that post season he was 9th in TOI among forwards and played as many as 5 games fewer but he still led the team in hits with 103 in 18 games. 2nd on the team was seabrook with 71 in 23 games and shaw was 3rd with 58 in 23 games as well. crazy numbers.

It's easy to forget that the Wild took the 1WC spot with 100pts that spring and were 6-3-1 comin' in and beat the Blues in six to kick off their postseason...…...then they ran into a F'n buzz saw! Bickell had TWENTY THREE hits in the first 2 games and they weren't the 'excuse me bumps' they call hits these days, those 23 hits had the Wild D men lookin over their shoulder as much as anything else and they can say what they want about Bicks but video doesn't lie and video shows him and Shaw both where they belonged on offense...….IN FRONT. They were certainly other reasons we swept MN but Bickell set a physical tone in that series that's unimaginable from anyone on the current roster and his coach must have asked for it. Bickell led the entire league in PO hits that year I believe, despite missing the last four games. We might have seen the big guy knockin' home the loose change like he did back in '13' if he wasn't already affected by his health issue but he left what he had out there for sure. I never ragged SB about that signing and I couldn't be happier to know a guy who helped us win two cups is financially secure.

The thing that we have to remember about '13' was,we were in our first deep run since '10' and we were w/o Buff,Ladd and Brouwer as far as power players with talent and also w/o guys like Eager,Burish and Frazier. Bicks was called on to provide the physical tasks that we got from Buff in '10' and he responded in a big way. Boston was without a doubt as imposing physically as any team that year(and most) and Bickell went toe to toe with the biggest, meanest bastards in the league....he outplayed em too! Guys like Shaw and the Rat punched WAY above their weight in the rough stuff dept. and went to the net and the bigger, vet additions Roszival and Handzus came in real handy too. Handzus was a Marchand protagonist right from the start in that series,he hacked and whacked and scrummed and towered a full 'head' over the 'noseface',Handzus was involved with other players too but he seemed to get Marchand off his game and he stayed off it.

Highly doubtful, I agree. As far as individual accomplishments go here’s another that likely is to last the test of time, even though he wasn’t a Hawk.

As far as individual accomplishments go here’s another that likely is to last the test of time, even though he wasn’t a Hawk. yep. hard to see that feat matched. damn...that lemieux was a hockey player. for some reason i had it in my head that lemieux hardly had any empty net goals but he's 4th all time with 33. of course gretzky leads all time with 56 and ovi's 3rd with 39. i was initially surprised to see marian hossa 2nd all time with 40 but when you think about it, who else would you want on the ice late in the game with a narrow lead? and patrick kane is tied for 12th overall with 24. i've said it many times that i don't agree with having kane on the ice late in the game with the other team's goalie pulled, but Q and JC both beg to differ. : ) www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/who-has-the-most-career-empty-net-goals

Is there a stat for being on when an empty netter is scored against you? You’d have to think being at least par is a requisite for getting a shot.

Just wondering GT, how is all this playing out in your end of the world? Were you encouraged to close up shop on your restaurant? Over here it’s complete lock down, very little besides essentials operating.

Over here it’s complete lock down, very little besides essentials operating. yeah, we're closed. government order. we could still be open for takeaway only, but the zoo up the road has closed so business has dried up anyways. we were thinking of shutting the doors even before the government rules came out. it sucks but there's lots way worse off than we are.

i think it was edzo must've said that due to the crime of foley not being able to. (i like doc but, c'mon) same game with wideman/troy calling the last couple of minutes. foley/edzo, wideman/troy....chicago must have the best 2 tandems in all of hockey broadcasting. i get downright emotional watching this clip. (as were the announcers)

I remember Doc and Edzo beatin' that horse to death all game long and it seemed 'there was nothing he could of done on that one' every time Rask gave up one of the SIX scored against him. History will more than likely be kinder to Crawford than many in the hockey community(including many Hawk fans)were but he may never get proper credit due to some sort of personal bias. Crawford sported a 1.84/.932 on the way to his first well deserved cup and held the red hot Bolts to TEN goals in the SCF on the way to his second. A career PO GAA of 2.29 and career SCF GAA of 2.08 is the stuff of legends because the SCF is where legends are born!

Back in '13',the 'Rodent line' of Rat,Kruger and Frolik were relied on for important shut down minutes and the Rat brought out the 'Rodent' in his linemates. There was good reason Q told em to stay out there after the go ahead, cup winning goal!

funny story about that goal, I was watching at a friends, with three bruin fans , they went out for a smoke , thinking that we were going back to Chicago, was only a couple min left and we just had a PP and did nothing, then when bickle scored I ran out, laughing at them and said we are going to OT , by the time I got back in , everyone was hugging boland, I didn't know why , figured he did all the work for bicks goal, seen everyone off the bench , took me a couple sec to realize we scored again, when then they came back in,I was jumping up and down, telling them we won, they wouldn't believe me, a commercial was on, till they saw the cup
