no way he looks better than orr in a hawk's uni. : ) but dionne did have six 50 goal seasons, all after 1976/77, that woulda' been nice alright. Bobby Orr being the great individual he is gave back a large amount of the money from that contract if I recall.....to an undeserving franchise! Funny how A. Wirtz gave Orr a million a year being with broke down knees but wouldn't give B. Hull a million.

usually a post like this makes me think "man, does time ever fly" but in this case, for whatever reason it seems a lot longer than just 2 years ago.

Things change but I still feel the offseason before or after woulda been better timing and SB shoulda went along with him. Are the PO wins you posted just from Chicago and where does he stand career-wise?

Faced with losing Ed Belfour as an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 1997, the Chicago Blackhawks traded Belfour to the San Jose Sharks on January 25, 1997 for right wing Ulf Dahlén, defenseman Michal Sýkora, goalie Chris Terreri, and a conditional second-round draft pick in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

he only wore a mask the last 3 years of his 17 year career. NHL Network has a series called Pioneers that talks to the players about their careers. It was interesting hearing Hall talk about how he hated the invention of the curved stick, especially because during practices his teammates used to love hitting Hall rather then putting the pucks in the net, using one analogy of if he got hit in the elbow, his teammates then would focus on hitting him in the same spot. But the curved stick made shots much more unpredictable in so many ways it made it difficult for goaltenders, which is why the mask eventually came into play.
He also discussed wearing a mask, and how it was Red Berensen who convinced him to start wearing it. And being a teammate and sharing the net with Jacques Plante, who was the first, was interesting as well. Hall was asked how long it took him to get used to wearing the mask, and he said he never did.

lots happening on this day in blackhawk's history...
missing this guy already.
and hossa's first goal below made history in another way. it was the only time in his career he never let a slapper go on a breakaway. : )
edit: one more. i always liked those 2.

i vaguely remember that goal but i'd forgotten it was round #15 of the shootout.
i think it was tincup wondering in another thread if dach would try the insane wjc kick pass in a game. well...he could watch this vid for a bit of inspiration if he needed it. malik did it on home ice too, of course.
colour guy says early "i've seen it all." no shit. : D
edit: i could see kolzig going all tonya harding on malik....not cripple him...just send a message. : )

not many pics on the WWW of tony wearing that brown mask. i guess because he only wore it for 13 games of his total of 985 games in the NHL. wait aminute...i'm a bit confused because tony played in 13 games in montreal but there's another pic of him wearing the brown mask in a hawks' uni. maybe it was 13 starts and not games? or maybe the above pic was in a practice? who knows. weird, wild stuff.

Big Hoss' debut was the Wednesday night before Yanksgiving.........remember it like it was yesterday. Wasn't he scheduled to miss the entire 1st half after his shoulder surgery the summer before? What a physical specimen the dude was,not sure if that shoulder ever bothered him again either.

bannerman took the loss allowing 10 goals on 36 shots. bob sauve allowed 2 on 8 shots. bad night for the secord/savard/larmer line. 1g, 2a total among the 3, and each was a -7. bob murray 2g, 2a led the way. ken yaremchuk and keith brown 3 points each. we actually outshot them 46-44. www.hockey-reference.com/boxscores/198512110CBH.html

what a beautiful old building. i wished i'd have got there. the closest i got was a brick (with a small plaque on it) i ordered years and years ago for 25 u.s.d. i believe. below was the exact plaque that i got. as it says, the bears even won a championship inside the old girl in 1932 which was the first indoor football game.

Wow. I forgot Havlat was still around when Kane, Buff... were here. if i can get my time machine to work, the 2008/09 season would be a good starting point to head back to. Made the WCF in Q's first year after missing the year before, without Hossa.......not bad. The boys were startin' to gel against the Wings before Kronwall knocked Havlat out cold,I remember Huet having a big game five but the Wings found a rebound off those lively boards in OT. Beatin' the Canucks and the Flames after a 104 point regular season set the team up for what was to come. The physical rivalry with Van started in the regular season that year and continued in the PO series and Big Buff became a factor with 9pts in 17gms and some real heavy lifting in the physical dept........quite a few tough players on that team. Havlat led in PO scoring but Kaner was 2nd(1st w/9gls) and Toews 3rd(2nd w/7gls) with a 59FO% in the postseason.
