gretzky was good at so many things but fighting wasn't one of them.
gretzky's gloves hit the ice, followed by gretzky himself a couple seconds later.

One of the guys doin' the game last night(Starman?) mentioned how some coaches didn't like their D-men 'laying out' on a 2 on 1 after a US D-man broke up a break and went on to say how good Q was at it when he played. It's probably why Keith,Seabs and Hammer were good at it too!

Anyone have the gif of Frolik skating in front of the Det. bench with his arms up? That one always cracks me up.
Edit: Found it, but there is a better slo-mo version of it somewhere out there.

Looks like Babcock's about to pinch a loaf!LOL! I sure he had his sphincter squeezed tight there with his team just giving up their third in the third period when they were 20 minutes away from a huge upset....

Hey I was there in 92, Rick Vaive got my wife and I the tickets, even though he had been in Buffalo for a couple years, still got the tickets somewhere, and that was my 1st game at the UC, went back the next year, and met the whole team, that was another funny story, Frantisek Kucera's brother went to UNB with his Brother, He tells me that his brother man the All Canadian Defense team . We had gotten passes to the practice, so when we get there I shout down the news he comes over and asked me all about it, in broken English, lol and then invites me to stand in the hall way while he brings out each player for a picture, from Goulet,Hasek, JR Larms and Keith Brown, what a wide load he was lol

Great story shooter.
Ya know, it seems like a lot of us have great stories of meeting players years ago, and look how close we still follow the team. It's a shame that younger people these days can't get experience anymore. Or have to pay a lot for it.
I remember meeting Magnusson, yelling at B. Wirtz at Ohare airport to put the games on TV (he was driven past us twice in a golf cart while waiting in line), talking to players at Stanley's, going to practices with hardly any fans there and players mingling with fans...

(never even recognized him) he only said "i am gaborik." i'd only had a couple beer at that point so i just clammed up. i think i told these incredible stories on the old boards so i apologize for the repetition.

Do you have any in which you did not embarass yourself? By the way... regarding Gaborik... currently he's having a popular podcast over here in Slovakia with another former player Boris Valabik (10th pick overall many years ago but not so shiny NHL career) ...lots of fun

I met Rick through a friend of mine, old boss actually, he played for, Amhurst Ramblers, in Nova Scotia , and went out with sandy Polly who my boss later married, so they stayed close , my boss had a horse farm and rick and a couple of his friends , would come down in Haying season , this was when he was a Maple Bud, we were haying one day and he ripped his shirt, I had an old phil russel sweater in the truck so he wore it , we joked about how better he looked, and John , my Boss took a picture , well Rick didn't like that Idea ,,,, at all warned us about the shit storm that would come if we ever showed any body the pic, then a couple summers later when he came down, he said we could show who ever we wanted, he told us their was a deal in place to go to the Hawks, then after he retired he coached the Saint John Flames in the AHL, nice guy but god was he cheep, in the many time we went out for drinks, I think he only payed maybe a couple times lol, the bastard would sit there with a beer with a mouthful left, and as soon as you said you were going for a beer , he would speak up , , he would always say ,,,,, well I'm not used to paying, never payed for a car or his condo in TO, as long as he let them put his picture up in the place of business
