This is the Chipotle All American Prospects Game, from back in January. John Mustard scored the OT winner for Team White. Boisvert was on Team Blue, but didn't score. Go to 2:37. Glad John could cut the Mustard... ... ... ... ...I'll show myself out.

I prefer a Swiftie over a Debbie Downer. I don't think KD can do no wrong but I like his moves a lot more than Bowmans. Regardless of what either one of us thinks of the guy, when it's all said and done, results are the only thing that'll matter. I know where you stand. But I absolutely love the Maroon signing. Let’s be honest. Bedard has 10 gawd dam fights happen because of him. Foligno cannot. And I repeat, cannot do that job anymore. I don’t mind one or two a year. But he’s done with that category. Maroon is old too. But that’s always been his line of work. Love it. Good for the org to recognize this!!!

I like today's signings and I give the GM credit for following through on his statement about improving the team......I believe he did so today. Patty Maroon knows his role and he's good at it,Boston doesn't add guys at the TDL for shits n giggles!

In the last 3 drafts the Hawks have drafted 30 players and 10 of them have signed, 2 from 2024 with Vanacker and Levshunov signed.
Those are good numbers, especially considering there's 7 rounds in the draft, so that'd be 21 picks is they had 1 through 7. But roughly half the picks were in the first 3 rounds.
It won't be long before the majority of the team is homegrown talent.

To add a little to what OTH has mentioned.
In 2025, the Hawks pick four times in the first two rounds; twice in each round. And the first two rounds is where the better players will go. Commesso, Gajan, Kansterov and Misiak were all 2nd round picks, and they've already signed Commesso and Misiak. And the other two will surely be signed at some point.
So I'd say the 2025 draft will add four more good prospects to the prospect pool sometime in the near future. It's good to see the Hawks starting to build up numbers in good, higher level prospects.

I believe we’ll see what we did this year. Hawks will try and move up. I could see them trading Toronta’s pick and the extra 2nd for pick 18 or somewhere like that again. Then maybe even trying to move into the top 5 again. If there’s a player they absolutely love and a team that needs picks is there, I could see him shipping all 4 picks for a shot at a certain player. Hawks don’t need quantity at this point. They’ll be approaching the limit of 90 total players they can have drafted or signed etc at some point soon. So I see quality over quantity!!!

That Porter Matone would be perfect. He’s 6’3” 200. He’s gonna be a top 5 pick for sure. Great scoring touch. 33 goals last year as a 16/17 year old. He’ll be 17/18 this season. I see 50 goals in his future. And probably make team Canada WJC team. That size and skill is gonna come in handy for someone!!!

According to this guy, we're going back to D twice again in 2025 nabbing Logan Hensler and Anton Vilchinsky: blackhawkup.com/posts/major-outlets-way-too-early-mock-towering-blueliners-heading-blackhawks-2025-01j5gjy48gck. Vilchinsky seems a stretch at 19 where the author has the Hawks taking him (which means the Maple Leafs are in a for a disappointing season once again) if Tankathon is mildly accurate in its rankings which put Vilchinsky as the 33rd best prospect and 10th highest-ranked D-man. Or maybe D-MAN since the kid's 6'6" probably is the culprit for a 14-spot jump between "publications." Is it too early to have a separate 2025 Draft thread?

I thought last year in the very late 1st and beginning of the 2nd round, there was a stretch of 5 or 6 dmen taken. Most were right shot. And I believe most were 6’2” or bigger. Dmen take longer. I would’ve passed on Arty, then I’d have traded down pick 18 for more picks. I’d have taken 3 Dmen in the late first all the way around not the 2nd round. Hawks have the opportunity to develop kids. There’s no rush on them. Here’s a list to check out!!! www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2024e.html

Spellacy from my Spits. Doesn’t bring much offense at this point. Had 21 goals. But he’s the fastest skater in the OHL. Voted by the coaches. He finished top 5 in almost every category at the draft combine. I doubt he’ll be anything special. But he’s a high motor guy and could fill a role perfectly!!! Why do you doubt he'll be anything special? He has the tools and drive to be a top6 powerforward. And most of his points came in the second half of the season, his first full season playing hockey. And now he'll probably make the World Juniors as an 18yr old, seems pretty special to me.

I get it, people read up a nice story and think he’ll be a star. I’ve met the kid a few times. Seems like a nice kid. He’s great with the younger kids. But as far as hockey goes. I just didn’t see much. He doesn’t utilize his speed properly. He looks slow most games. Spitfires sucked really bad. He didn’t even sniff the top 6. Even after all the trades. 38 points in 67 games does not scream top 6. He’ll be one of the older guys on the spits. So I’d guess he’ll get much more ice time. If he’s gonna live up to that top 6 player. He’s gonna have to really do a 180!!!

And 29 of his 38pts came in the second half of the season, almost a point a game on a bad team. Considering he finished in the top10 in 7 tests at the combine, including finishing first in the windgate, he seems like a special kid to me, especially hearing what his coaches and trainers say.
