Colliton is rumored to have been fired by Vancouver’s AHL team. Not the same sentiment as Yawney above lol there are some out there saying he was fired too.

I have nothing against Colliton. But he’s just not a coach. Maybe if he spends 10 years in the AHL he’ll get seasoned enough to be decent. I’m just not convinced he’s worth an NHL job. If he’s out in Van, oh well!!!

thehockeywriters.com/nhl-rumors-may-17-2024/When Elliot says this it’s probably true. I hope KD trades for the rights to both Necas and Pesce. Both fill a glaring need in the roster and can both do it longer term. I’d give Necas either a 5 or 6 year deal for 6 million per. He’s a 6’2” right center. He’ll be a steal in due time. Also Pesce had a down year, but he’s a RHD and can play top 4 minutes. I’d give him either what he gets now, or a little more, he gets 4.5 now. I’d even go to 5 on a 5 year deal. This is almost too perfect for the Hawks!!!

And Necas would have to find a new number, can't wear 88 in Chicago. I like that he's 25 and a 6'2" center.

But in Chicago he’s a massive upgrade over Megna!!!

I just do not see KD giving that type of term for Tanev or Pesce, more likely to sign someone like a veteran for 2 to 4 years based on where they are at in the rebuild. I like Tanev, but he is likely to get 5 years and Pesce 5 to 7 years.

Trent Yawney just left the asst coaching job in LA. Could be a good addition here or in the Rock the scuttlebutt out there is that yawney will join todd mclellan if he gets another head coaching gig. they've got a long history together...including being teammates in junior in saskatoon. besides toronto, mclellan has also spoke to the jets. jersey and the kraken. i reckon someone will pick him up.

Definitely not the #2 pick in this draft but the #20 and another pick and/or a b-level prospect. Sign him for 7 or 8 years and put a checkmark on the rebuild list of ingredients. Pesce would be a good bridge guy - I wouldn't go more than 3-4 years.

Pesce turned down 5*5 so years might be to much but the 5 is doable also gonna cost you#20 and our second . I say hell ya. Only worry is I need more effort from Necas if Rod could not get it from him it a tiny worry.

I'd rather not give our early 2nd, though. The early second (#34) is almost like another late first. There will be guys like Saad, Debricant and Robertson from Stars that fall for whatever reason. I still worry about his total commitment, hopefully if they do acquire him playing with Bedard brings out his best, he has the talent to snipe 40-50.

(teravainen) he was at 36.8% this last regular season. he took just 7 faceoffs in 11 games in the playoffs.

If he’s out in Van, oh well!!! He was supposed to have excellent communication skills and being young he can relate to today's NHL players. I guess he was good at calling everyone for dinner. His very first season saw Strome added and immediately rekindle his 'Erie magic ' with fellow youngster and former teammate DeBrincat, with Kane and even with Perlini for a good part of the year. You'd think a young HC would embrace the chemistry and exuberance his two young forwards had together, a center and a 40gl scoring winger. But it wasn't to be,the young HC seemed to resent his two young forwards the following year with D-Cat seeing a checking role following a 41gl season and Strome seeing bottom-six time when he played at all. One could give the young HC credit for Strome's breakthrough season after being acquired and for leaving him and D-Cat together that year if the young HC didn't just blow it up the following year. Kaner was in town early to practice with Strome and D-Cat that summer too, figuring they'd bond and be a line, but the young HC had other ideas........he seemed to resent the effort. Kaner was in town early again practicing with Strome and D-Cat back in the summer of '21',figurig they might be together the following season but once again....NO SOAP. By most accounts, the three looked good together and Strome looked rejuvenated in the preseason but the young HC still scratched Strome the first 13 games of the year and his team had enough of it........he was dismissed after those 13 disastrous games. Since that dismissal,Dylan Strome has played 232 NHL games for three different HC's,he's improved every year since with 27/67 53% this year, he's been healthy scratched ZERO times since and has missed only one game to injury. His young GM thought no more of him than his young HC did.

I had Strome on my fantasy team this season and dropped him halfway through because he was barely ahead of us Reichel, Strome was just over 0.4 fantasy points per game, Reichel was just under 0.4. He doesn't hit or block shots, and typically gets lost in the D zone.

We'll see if this rather cynical approach will be successful in the long run. personally, I believe it had a lot more to do with his lacking in the skating department and his less than stellar play in the defensive zone. Strome has done well for himself in Washington and I'm glad it worked out for him there. they were/are willing to play him in a top 6 role, which is where he needed to play. I felt like the 'hawks didn't like him in that role (for the reasons listed above) and that is why they let him go. forcing him into a bottom 6 role was never going to work. I've never been terribly upset that he was let go, but the manner in which they did it seemed a bit silly. they could've gotten something in return for him.

I know nothing of 'fantasy' points but in the real world,Dylan Strome has scored 50,collected 130 points and won 52% of his draws in the two years since his release. He doesn't hit,or block shots and his skating and defensive play didn't reach the lofty expectations here? All of these terrible flaws didn't keep a demanding Laviolette and a bright, young Carbery from relying heavily on the guy the last two years or the FO rewarding his play with a 5X5M extension. He led his team in scoring after stepping into a huge role with Backstrom and Kuznetsov gone, tied for team best 5 GWG's and saw his highest TOI of his career. He's missed one start to injury over the past three years. Lucas Reichel? Reilly? He hits, blocks shots and never gets lost in the D zone? Our Lucas Reichel? He would have hurt the chances of getting Bedard suggests his play would have been too good or he couldn't skate or defend well enough suggesting he wasn't good enough are diametrically opposed explanations.......it CAN'T be both. If Strome was qualified for a meager 3.6M,then either Domi(led the team in scoring with 18/49),or AA(20gls) wouldn't have been added and the tank woulda been intact. He wasn't good enough? See his last two seasons.....w/o Kane or D-Cat! All Gm's make mistakes, running cover for this awful piece of player assessment doesn't make it look or smell any better.

That was exactly that. Therefore, every player, no matter how promising was discarded. Putting more emphasis on a 25yro center's skating style than the 22gls and 48 points in 63 games that year,or his 52%+ FO's was short-sighted....it ain't a beauty contest. He'll never be a shut-down center but his -6 led all Hawk forwards his last year here. Utilized properly, with mostly offensive zone starts,Dylan Strome has been a VERY effective offensive producer(132 points the last two years) for an aging shell of a Caps team with little support. The only one who didn't like him in a top-six role was the woefully unqualified 'Harry Potter',Strome's play since Potter's dismissal,72 goals,180 points and 52%FO's in 232 games is no aberration......he's gotten better every year since. He developed some nice chemistry with some younger players down the stretch,I look for a 30gl/70pt season from the 27yro center next year but that won't matter either.
