I was reading a story and it mentioned that we could see up to 17-18 recent Hawks draftees at Rockford in the next couple of years and most of them could be playing together during the same season/time, which would be great to see and follow. Yup gonna be very exciting time for the hogs. I would assume this thread gets more play than the big club at times. I for one am looking forward to Paul and SS playing together if they do lots of energy coming!!

The coaching staff at Rockford an argument can be made might be more important than the parent team.

OK ... I have nothing new to say ... I'm just doing a wellness check on our site because there's been no posts in over 24 hours - and, you know, you check on the ones you love ... right?

This is the part of the year where we go through major with drawls. Another 4-5 weeks I'd say till we start getting false hope for next season.

Last season Del Mastro, Allan, and Kaiser started their pro careers, Crevier the season before. Before that Phillips got an exemption to leave the OHL because of covid. One of them will be in the NHL and Levshunov will take their place.
But next season will see more forwards turning pro.
Savoie is the one I'm most intrigued by, especially if he's on the same line as his former linemate, MarcelĀ². Both can play center or wing.

My thinking is this season at Rockford would be a year too early for Misiak to start playing in the pros. He's still only 19 so there's no need to rush him. Plus they have guys like Nazar and Ludwinski that are a bit older and a little further along.

I really like how KDs building this, he's focusing on both teams and letting guys grow together. Plus he's drafting guys with connections like Vanacker and Lardis, Savoie and MarcelĀ², Mustard and Harding, Misiak, Ty Henry, and Gaudreau. There's more but those are off the top of my head. He didn't draft Allan and Dach but they ended up together in Seattle with Korchinski, and team Canada. Plus 9 Hawks have won gold together at the last 2 World Juniors The Hawks and Hogs are going to have a lot of depth when more guys turn pro.

Yeah no rush, last season was only his first in North America, he struggled with consistency but put up decent numbers. Now he can go back bigger, stronger, and more confident knowing the league and country. He was the pick from the Kane trade and was drafted first overall like Kane, different leagues of course. But he's a big center with a lot of potential, can't wait to see how he progresses. At the prospects tournament and the old prospects camps there was always someone who caught my eye so I took there number to see who they are. Last year Misiak was the first to catch my eye, Lardis and Felcman stood out too. And Del Mastro really stood out the tournament after he was drafted because he looked like Seabs in his own end, now he's a solid 2way dman.

Icehogs sign Rw Kevin Lombardi, D Lucas Brenton, D Adam McCormick and D Colin Felix to one year deals. Future Indy fuel Lombardi is a big winger, 6'5" 229lbs, just finished college. And Brenton is 6'4" 212lbs and just finished four seasons in the WHL. Nice to see more size in the system.

One of my sonās spring hockey coaches is Owen Lalonde. He was the 2nd overall pick in the OHL to Sudbury Wolves in 2016. Heās a 6ā1ā 190 right shot dman. Overall a solid kid. Just awesome to be around.
He had a decent OHL career. Heās now entering is final season at Queens University. Iād love to see the Hogs offer him a deal next year. I think if he plays with proās, heāll develop much quicker. Anyways. Heās a solid dman that will have a deal next summer. I know he has said that Europe is an option. Iām sure he can make a wee bit more over there. I know the Hogs will need dmen next year. As Iām sure Arty will be up and so should EDM. Right shot dmen will be highly coveted.
Weāll see what happens. But Iām sure thereās quite a few other good young kids out there. Owen is another!!!

His numbers were on an upward trajectory until his last season in the OHL, but he's had 3 solid years in university. It's always good to sign guys like this, some players are late bloomers, like Sharp. Or it'll add depth to Rockford and Indy, all are good. Low risk high reward. You should ask Owen about Holden Katzalay. Big center from Vancouver who's played with Owen the last 3yrs. 6'4" 200lb right handed center, good numbers in the BCHL and his first season of university, 29pts in 19gms.

Since it's somewhat of a slow news time down on the farm, something I've been curious about is how is it decided how many prospects will be on the farm vs how many AHL vets to help make the team halfway competitive to help attendance.
I would think the big factor would be just how deep the prospect pool is for a team, especially in A and B prospects. This year, the Blackhawks have more than the usual number of prospects that are candidates to be at Rockford, with a few high level players.
Since the AHL is a developmental league, I wonder if they will have more prospects than normal at Rockford.

The last 3 seasons he was the assistant coach for Kelowna, so he coached Colton Dach. The Hawks staff are probably familiar with him. He'll be in charge of the D in Rockford, he joined at a good time.

It'd be great to see a number of young draftees gel and lead the team this year,I caution against comparisons to the 2010 version of the Hawks but a bunch of good kids in Rockford playing together at the same time IS one similarity IMO.
