Go to hell to the worst....I mean wirtz.....family I'm tryin to digest this Phil and I don't know if I can! I'll watch games for free and I'll still pay attention because some of my favorite,all-time great players still entertain me but livin and dyin with this team isn't on my agenda anymore. To those that'll call me a bad fan for that,I say enjoy your sissified, last place team......exhibition games not withstanding!

Why oh why?!?!?
I wonder how many good coaches and or players will even consider coming here with him staying in charge. Especially once Kane and Toews tail off.

Wouldn’t it be safer to wait till the playoffs are done? Let’s say the Hawks get swept, now Stan has no money, and more than likely the 10th pick. Where does this go? I think the times will get massively worse over the next few years. Look at the Bulls. It takes decades to get back what you once had. Maybe even half a century. When the proof is in the results. There’s really no complaining or justice for the person bringing all the pain, just an extension. I would love to fail in my line of work, sure people would die, but the extension would be ever so sweet!!!

I’m a little depressed by that move. I’m quite confident I will not see another Cup in my life as a Hawks fan. To repair what is and will be done will take an eon. The team isn’t even competitive, and it hasn’t even hit rock bottom yet. Imagine when Toews and Kane skate their last shift? It’s coming sooner than we think. I can’t explain how bad this team will be without them. Now just wait till this pain in the dick does his roster dismantling this offseason......again!!!

as soon as I hoped over to SCH and saw this, I knew there would be a simmering rage here today.
I can't say I blame anyone. as soon as I read the headline, I groaned and rolled my eyes. I can't blame anyone for not wanting to watch this potential shitshow unfold. personally, as someone who lived through the late 90's and 00's as a Blackhawks fan surrounded by red wing fans, I can't disavow the team now, nor will I ever. that doesn't mean that I am not extremely disappointed to hear the news (that I think we all already knew was coming) today.
as an ever hopeful fan, I have to hope that maybe Stan has a good eye for scouts and they'll assemble another winner in the near future. at the same time, I can't say I am overly confident about it.....

I think we’ll see more and more Hawks fans lose interest. I know I am. I have my sons hockey, I coached him last year and this year he’s going to AAA. So we’ll be on the ice 5-6 nights a week. I don’t have much time or care for losers who will lose. I don’t necessarily care about Championships, but I just wanna be entertained. I haven’t been in over 4 years with this team. At the 5 year mark, it’s just not fun to watch or care about. Personally, I’m far too busy to care much more. I can see myself losing interest here really fast. I’ll always stop in on the message boards. But I just won’t be the die hard Hawks fan I was for the last 30+ years. I was a huge Hawks fan since I was about 12-13. Now at 43, I just don’t care for inept people or their franchises. The fans will let them know soon enough how bad things are!!!

I'll continue to come to the boards because I feel like I have a lot of friends on here. But I can not support a team that fires everyone but the person responsible for the downfall. From the way he got the job to today, I've despised this pompous ass, taking credit for things others set up.
So as I stated in the playoff thread....I'm rooting for the Hawks to win the series vs Edmonton simply so they can not get the number 1 pick, and I'll be rooting for Tallon/Q to lose the opening round series so they have a chance at #1. This is the only way I would ever root for a Bowman led Hawks team again.

good to hear, Phil!
on the Bowman note, I've a question for you and everyone else here:
was his dad any different? not to say he wasn't a great coach, but his teams in Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Montreal were ready-made, imo.

He was a great pre salary cap HC when you could keep a team together and a poor GM,just like his spawn sack.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!! Look at Scottys record with the other teams that were not loaded up. St Louis and Buffalo were what to expect out of him unless he had a totally stacked team. Look at the Habs, Pens, and wings. He walked into a situation that was going to succeed regardless. Now he set up his son in the same light. But I feel that with the internet and all the info out there nowadays, I doubt Stan gets another gig, let alone walk into a team loaded. My dad is a Habs fan, and he always says there’s a reason why Scotty was let go after winning his 4th Cup in a row, and his 5th with the Habs. Players hated him, and management didn’t care for him much more!!!

Well, by the sounds of Rockwell, maybe Stan isn’t safe? All the talk of “change is all around us” comment looks like they want a new direction. Rocky is ben said that, “we needed a new direction”. So I think that extension bs is just that. I still have to think Rockwell will not tolerate being a team with not much of a future in store. Considering Stan is in the last year of his deal, I think Stan and his camp probably released false info to media sources to try and get this to gain some traction. This is 2 times now that this has been reported with nothing happening. I think he’ll be sent out too!!!

Even if the guy ends up getting an extension. They’re wrong both times. I think it was either more speculation or something was leaked on “someone’s” behalf. I think we should all avoid the 2nd city hockey. Just mindless dribbles. Good catch Phil!!!

I think once the corpse called the 2019/20 Blackhawks are cold and in the ground, they’ll axe him. That’s why Danny is there. My guess is McD wanted to sign Stan. And I’d bet Rockwell thought better. So he got rid of McD, and Danny will axe him at the right time. I think the Hawks are classy and will let him come back to Chicago and debrief him. Then they will part ways. I believe he will stay on in an advisors role to finish out his contract!!!

idk why teams don't have 2 presidents. one in charge of marketing and the other in charge of actual hockey ops. (maybe some do?) it seems we were sorely lacking real "hockey minds" in this teams upper management. maybe i'm over simplifying here, but it seems a shame to ax mcdonough in order to fire bowman. i made this post after mcdonough was fired. i have no reason to doubt ms. faulkner's capabilities but this wasn't exactly what i had in mind.

She'll be just the PR person for the Hawks. The face at business partner meetings and dealings. All the day to day hockey stuff will be fucked up by SB still.
