well, I know I can say RELIABLY that it is pretty friggin sad that our coach is the only one not mentioned AT ALL in that article besides the newly minted coach in St Paul (as of 7/13/20) who has (saves and scrolls back to check GT's reliable post) a whopping 12 games of NHL coaching experience and wasn't even officially the damn head coach until a week and a half ago.....

I hadn't heard of this part. This was from an article from 'cbc.ca' from back in June, about some ideas Sportsnet had to give viewers the energy and feel of a sold out arena. This is the link. www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/nhl-broadcast-cgi-fans-crowd-noise-1.5622834" There might be some CGI in there, there might be some pumped-in noise, there might be other forms of caricatures or emojis," Banks said. "We're working through all of that in real time. I think what we're going to see is it's obviously going to be different." Some fake fans in the stands to go along with fake crowd noise. Would this mean the Sportsnet telecasts will look different from the NBC telecasts?

Looks like it'll reflect life itself, things will be different going forward and normal will be a relative term for some time to come. The absurdity of playing contact sports in the age of Corona,piped-in crowd noise and CGI fans might be all we'll get for a long time or at least until we get a handle on this situation because it's running amuck with 78,000 new cases yesterday.

I know we all want sports. I think though that we have to look at the big picture. It’s pretty much insane to jump into sports when they postponed everything when it was super low. Now everything is super high and they want to bring them back? I’m losing a lot of respect for ALL the sports out there. How many times do pitchers literally lick their fingers to get a better grip on the ball? How does a huge 6’9” guy go into the paint without contact and basically be face to face with another guy breathing heavily? How many times does an out of breath hockey player spit or spit water on the bench or the ice? Then another player falls there and it’s on them and their team? Or physical contact? How many time’s do soccer players........... flop? Well, they may be safe. Even football, they’re in each others faces snorting and growling moistly every down. A lot to think about before they think about money!!!

IT WON'T GO AWAY TILL WE START TAKING IT SERIOUSLY , here in the Atlantic provinces, we were told to wear a mask since march the 1st, and we haven't had a case in two or three weeks weeks , so it can be done , the States don't seem to care about other people , they are still fighting wearing a mask , I don't think this is a good idea, should have waited for next year but , who am I to decide that, I think this is just a money grab, wonder how Boston feels with no Pasternak, and their could be others as well , that drop out all it takes is a few super stars on the top teams to opt out and then it's wide open

I’m in no way shape or form sticking up for what happens in the USA. However. California has as more people than Canada. So the population density is much greater than it is in Canada. Especially the Atlantic Provinces. Nflnd, Labrador, Nova Scotia, PEI, NB. They’re very sparsely populated and you can avoid each other. This is where wearing a mask is important and using hand sanitizer every time you enter a public building is the way to go. You are bang on with that. I just feel that the USA we’re going to have a problem either way, but this is insanity now. Leaders need to lead. Plain and simple. It really is that easy. Here in Ontario, I have to give a tip O my hat and a way of my tail to Doug Ford. He put his political agenda aside and has gotten results by listening to our top drs and health officials. He even credited deputy PM Crystia Freeland ( they’re in different parties. Equal to Pelosi crediting Pence). He said in public that he was proud of the job she did for Canadians. I think that is tough and very honourable to do. I respect that guy more and more every day. He actually seems human! I feel bad for the person running against him in the next election. It’ll be equal to Mondale vs Reagan in 84. I hope like hell my Murican brothers and sisters pull together as one, and I hope they can stay safe and healthy. My uncle died in March, he lived in Plymouth Michigan, we couldn’t get over there for the funeral due to this. Times are tough, but I’m sure we can all put aside our political ambitions and get through this!!!

I'm betting you're right; with numbers going up and a number of states setting single day records for new cases fairly often, it's going to be a long time before anything improves. If we do see CGI fans, I wonder how many they will have wearing jerseys to look like a real crowd.

I'd rather play a video game. the 'hawks would win the Cup for sure then!

I'd imagine that the farther north the city the better the ice'll be this time of year.So Toronto and Edmonton'd make sense imho. thehockeynews.com/news/article/nhl-bubble-need-to-know-the-tournament-is-upon-usOne of the original concerns with shifting the NHL season way into the dog days of summer regarded the condition of ice – especially since the arenas will host multiple games per day. But the fact the rinks will not have 19,000 fans in the stands actually off-sets the outside temperature.
“The real problem is when the doors open in a facility and the fans come in, with their body heat,” said NHL director of hockey ops Colin Campbell. “We have no concerns about the ice conditions and we’ve talked with our ice guys in-depth about this.”
Kris King, the NHL’s senior VP of hockey ops, added that there will not be morning skates at the main arenas in order to maintain as much ice integrity as possible.
