This is a test to see if all users can successfully create threads here...now that it's started, it can be all things Toews.

I’m a huge Toews fan and it sure looks like a power struggle between management and the leadership group. Unless Rocky is 100% on board with destroying their legacy and getting them to leave, I think the players win. I’m not sure the damaging duo of Stan and JC will be here after this road trip. I think they come back to a “get out” in a week!!!

Love the thread can't wait to hear from the haters there are always some but they keep it entertaining. Toews is off to a usual slow start and that's cool from all I've seen he is playing well and it will come as it always does.
O Captain my Captain. Although a poem originally written for the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. It in many cases can be used to refer to great leaders. Those who give all of themselves true leaders. Toews is our Captain one who gives his all (that would leave himself fallen on the deck for this team).
Like many who have followed him into battle he has bled for for his team. He has suffered anguish and embarrassment in loss. As a true and strong leader he has never been seen to make excuses rather take on responsibility.
Many like to and have compared him to other great captains, they must in order to find others worthy of his comparison.
Good and bad he is one of the greatest hockey leaders of all time. It would seem however that many would like to assassinate his character criticize his play and diminish his achievements. Shame on them as BlackHawks fans. So before you post negatively be aware of who Jonathan Toews was, is, and always will be to this team.
O Captain my Captain.

He was made captain at such a young age grasped the role. Then grew with it as he grew as a player too. Many are critical of him at times but don't know till after what a beating he took physically during the year.

never liked the term "hater" here...as in toews hater, Q hater, crow hater. some of toews' critics have gone a bit far at times (his gal, his diet, his training) but i don't think out of those few posters that went there that any of them "hate" him. it's just a word...i know...but "hater" is a bit too strong of a term. detractor would be more to my liking. : )

Met Jonathan Toews at a local Best Buy in Chicago during the 2012 lockout. He talked with me for half an hour about many things hockey. Great guy. I told him I supported the players in the lockout, as I did the following year when I met Duncan Keith outside the UC as they were heading to Notre Dame for their preseason practices. He has been and will continue to be one of the greatest captains in Hawks history, and will go down as the captain who has led the team to the most Stanley Cups in a career. He's as consistent a player as there is in the league, even with the typical slow starts he has. Take into account that last year was possibly the only one in which he started out hot, leading to career highs. This year (even though I'm not watching the games)he's off to what for him is a normal start. But by seasons end you watch, his numbers will be very close to his career norms.

why is this thread pinned? So it stays at the top of the category. Just like the SB thread. If not they start to drop as new threads are made. Since these are 2 of our favorite topics I thought they need to stay high.

One thing I feel bad for Toews, is that he always is the one to carry rookies and the downtrodden. It’s gotta be frustrating to no end, but he keeps on keeping on. Ya his personal numbers suffer and people rag on him, but I think we need to see the whole picture here!!!

Nylander's been 'OK' but I'm afraid 'OK' is all we can expect from him on a nightly basis, hope he proves me wrong. I'd try Shaw up with JT and Saad for a game or two myself.....not a shift or two. Maybe Dach too,he's looked effective so far.

I don´t get why they play Nylander on his off side? I get that Saad has ranks on him, but why not make line combos that have players playing on their strong side? Nylander felt more like a threat playing left wing. If they want Saad with Toews, why not try Kubalik on the right wing? Play Nylander as left wing with Kampf and Shaw. I feel Shaw playing on his off wing doesn't hurt him as much as Nylander playing on his off wing. Or play him on the fourth line. I liked the fourth line with Nylander, Carpenter and either Smith or Caggiula

Nylander vs Nylander Why sit Nylander when he has a chance to play against his brother. What better motivation for him to player better than against his brother.

Well I think and hope this could be the end to the Captains woes. He certainly showed some life tonight. I think it is in part due to the coach finally making some changes to his systems. He mentioned in his interview that he has gone back to letting the team play to some of their offensive strengths while continuing to develop the defensive game that he wants to see. (it's about time).
The lines are looking better the second line is what it should have been all along. I agree with many that Kubalik should be up with Toews and Saad as he is a far more capable and talented winger on either side than most. Shaw could play that right wing but regardless Shaw or Kubalik are going to leave a hole in the third line. I like Nylander in the line up on the forth line were he has less pressure for now.
As this is Toews thread, although Kane was hot I think Toews led the way showing that you can never give up on him or count him out as he can lead his team in so many ways.

I like the idea of Kubalik moving up. There’s already some chemistry there with Saad and I like when #8 can play his off side. He’s known as a volume shooter and he has quick hands and a hard accurate shot. There would be three players capable of board work on the line as well. For whatever reason Kubalik might start on the third line but he’s getting fourth line minutes and has seemingly fallen into the rotation of scratched forwards. He might be a rookie in this league but he’s got a decent amount of pro experience behind him. I don’t notice any more egregious mistakes than are coming from other wingers.

Seems like the last many years when Kane is double shifted, someone is going to lose minutes either the 2nd line or 3rd line guy. That could be why kubalik minutes look lower.

That's also why I'd like a permanent right winger on the top line. Kane in my opinion gets enough time on his own busy line and the power play. If he's double shifted before a power play he is going to need to sit out part of it or be gassed, and less effective. Keep him fresher he's not any getting younger. Kubalik or Shaw. The grinder and the goal scorer. JMHO
