(farang is thai for foreigner) i think he only played a couple games.

One of the best captains in sports. What a enjoy to have him represent the Indian head and just watching some of those highlights brings back some many great thrills and memories. I know we like to dissect players and criticize them and the team when times are tough, but we all should be so grateful to witness JT career, what a joy, thank you and Happy Birthday #19.

If he hopes to get in another year in pro hockey, this might be his last shot.

Usually you hear About guys skating and working out with other guys. Especially in today’s media and social media age. I’d say he’s gonna walk off into the sunset, and I believe he’s in sunny Florida!!!

nice words about the captain from former hawk brendan perlini. worth the time to listen.
perlini's time here was unremarkable at best...but i have to take my hat off to him.
that was nice he made the effort to say those things.

He had everything, size, speed and a good shot. Just lacked drive to succeed.

Tallon was quoted he was happy to see Johnson and Stall off the board. I recall a local story once Hawks took Toews he is player that will help you win cups and 4 years later it become reality.

One of the best days in Hawks history. I thought for sure Pittsburgh would take him.

from Powers today:
Jonathan Toews has been staying out of the spotlight since his Blackhawks career ended last spring, lying low while taking the year off to focus on his health. But he was back in Chicago, signing autographs at Chris Chelios’ hockey camp last week, and an announcement on his future — whether it’s an attempted comeback at age 36 or a formal retirement — is expected soon.

I’d have to think he’s done with hockey. I just don’t see him getting up and signing anywhere now. After have 2.5 of the last 3 years off. I think it’s safe to say he is moving on!!!

I hope you are wrong. I think everyone is in that boat. Unfortunately Toews from all signs, seems to have moved on. I think “retirement” is probably painful for him to accept. He’s done this for 31 of his 36 years alive. It’s tough to say goodbye. However, at his age, not playing for almost 3 years is detrimental and I doubt he gets back. I’m pretty confident teams have reached out to see where he’s at. If he was going to play, he would. I’ve also heard (and this is just a rumour, nothing more) that he’s had anxiety from all this and has kinda hidden away. If true, I understand why he has been out of site, out of mind. I just hope he’s healthy and doing ok. He’s done enough for hockey, now it’s time for himself!!!

I'm not in that boat T, I agree with you. I don't think he should return. Maybe that's easy for me to say, but I just think the guy has already accomplished pretty much everything a hockey player can accomplish at every level. I know these guys love the game, they love the locker-room (comradery), maybe it's harder to walk away than any fan can ever understand -- but every player's time comes for him to walk away. There really is no better time for him to do so than now, especially with the time he's missed. Like you say, he needs to focus on his health and the next chapter of his life.

Back in December the AV's were looking for a center and talked Parisi out of retirement in Jan. One would think that Toews was probably on their list but likely got turned down.

The captain getting around.
Good to see him enjoying life. Is it life after hockey? I'd say so with about a 97.5% certainty.

gets to me a bit thinking the captain's 15 year run as team leader has come to an official end. we sure were lucky to have him, eh? next longest tenure as captain was pierre pilote at 7 years, with dirk graham and johnny gottselig at 6 years. they were miles behind, just as jonny was miles ahead of any other leader this team has seen. www.eliteprospects.com/team/56/chicago-blackhawks/captaincy-history

words from the new captain to the previous one. kind've cool they were drafted in the same year. "Obviously, I want to talk to him and just have that conversation," Foligno said. "I know what he’s meant to this organization. I’ve said he’s a pillar that this organization stands on with what he’s done. I admire him, because we both got drafted the same year and to see what he was able to accomplish at such a young age and take on the leadership role at such a young age at an Original Six team in a market like this, it's admirable and something as a player from afar, I’d watch and I’d learn and appreciate.
"The one thing I’m going to make clear is that there are no shoes to fill. That’s been done. That’ll never be touched. His legacy will live on for a very long time. But what I’m excited about is a new era, so to speak. It’s about growing this team to that direction and understanding we have a lot of great players coming. There’s an exciting group of players coming, an exciting group of players we have this season I'm really proud to lead, with a handful of guys here and I’m honored to do so. ... I appreciate everything Jonathan’s done and he’s given us a hell of a blueprint in order to do so. Hopefully we’ll get back to the years where he had a lot of success here and hopefully we will too."www.nbcsportschicago.com/nhl/chicago-blackhawks/day-1-of-blackhawks-training-camp-takeaways-nick-foligno-introduced-as-captain/594574/
