Stan's failure to get any decent picks so far is his biggest fail. Agreed; a couple or more extra high round picks is what they need in the next couple of drafts so they can have good prospects (hopefully) step in 3-5 years from now. By failing to get any high round picks for Saad and Dylan Sikura, the only high value players left that could bring back high round picks are Toews, Kane and D'cat. And it's hard to see any of them getting traded anytime soon with their salary level. Now that Stan has traded his only other higher value player with no high round picks coming back, Stan is now caught between a rock and a flat cap.

Stan is caught between a rock and himself. It’s mostly himself that gets in the way. The rock can be walked around!!!

I had a thought while listening to the newest podcast on nbcsn Chicago this evening.....
the goaltender situation just makes no sense. even the reasoning that Crow had to be given an opportunity when he was younger doesn’t hold water, because he had a younger/better/more experienced d corp in front of him AND he had Turco to help ease him into it. so what gives?
they brought up the fact numerous times about how the 'hawks had the worst team defense the past two years. so then, here's my thought:
is this a move by Stan and JC to force the team to play his stupid goddamn system more efficiently? the thinking being by having unproven guys in net, it will force the team it front of them to play a much tighter defensive game whereas with Crow (or Lehner) they could slack and figure Crow would bail them out?
I know, it doesn't make a ton of sense, but neither does the goaltender situation.....

One of the many articles over the last few days had Scam Blowman admitting it was the 2nd year that CC wanted that made him kick the two time cup winner to the curb........CLASSLESS but how would 'Prince Daniel' know this being a life long booze salesman?
Get ready for the 2nd edition of 'Stooges on ice' cause it won't be pretty!
EMBRACE LAST PLACE.......IT'LL BE OURS FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE!

I'd like Lankinen to get the shot at it. He has been hailed by pundits as a sensational world class goalie. And we saw how he played on the international stage.

Unless JC/Stan are taking LSD rectally (and who could be sure of that these days), if the goalie is the 'hawks propery, they should be given a chance. That means Tomkins, Lankinen, Delia, and Subban should all get the chance. I would say even look at Basse, Commeso, & Nalimov if possible. The hole in net right now is goatse-sized right now and if the 2 best out of camp are Lankinen and Nalimov, they should run with them. P.S. if it was indeed that 2nd year that was the sticking point for Stan, then he should definitely be fired--especially if Crawford was offering sub-3M at 2 years. It's moves like this when beancounters pretend to be GM's. We all know they make better goalies .

Both are mid-level back-up goalies at best. I doubt either will ever be a top tier starter.

Perhaps...but on the flipside if Lankinen & the rest are truly not ready for the NHL, they might be who we have to be stuck with--especially if rushing any of the others would stunt their development.

in order to get the players that Stan and JC desire to "build around the core" with, they have to draft in the lottery, preferably top 10. top 5 is even better.
Crow gives them a chance to win by a much larger margin than any rookie 'tender does.
I think you can see the angle here.

I see what SHOULD be the angle, losses and a bottom in conference finish gets a good pick.....right? Then why not ask a few core guys to waive and why not trade Murphy for whatever they can get? Wouldn't that follow the angle?

I'm sure they would prefer it to only be 1 or 2.

I can still see a team with Kane and Toews on it never being bad enough to get that 1-3 pick and this team needs those desperately!
