blackhawks schedule with game times. chicago.suntimes.com/blackhawks/2021/1/4/22214069/blackhawks-2021-schedule-game-times-changed-central-time-eastern-timeAll 28 Blackhawks home games in 2021 will start at 7 p.m. CT or earlier.
The NHL’s game time announcement Monday came with the news that even the Hawks’ weeknight home games in Chicago will no longer start at 7:30. It makes sense, as the extra half-hour was primarily designed to accommodate fans stuck in rush-hour traffic. With no fans in attendance, the Hawks will align with the league’s typical custom of starting most games at 7 p.m. local time.
The Hawks will still play three 7:30 p.m. games but all three are away at Dallas (Feb. 9, March 9 and 11).
The Hawks will also play five matinees: Jan. 24 vs. Detroit (11:30 a.m.), Feb. 7 at Dallas (2 p.m.), March 7 vs. Tampa Bay (1:30 p.m.) and April 3 and 4 at Nashville (2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively).
only 5 matinees. i'm good with that.

i was just as impressed by the defender. (mitchell) I agree GT; Mitchell looked good too on that drill. I think one of his scouting reports I read said he had good speed and acceleration in both directions. Kurashev had good speed too; I hope he takes a big step up this season.

If Kurashev can fly - then Mitchell is pretty quick too as he stayed right with him - skating backwards.
I'm far from a technician on technique - so I have a question on when Mitchell pivoted on that play - was it the right time or too early or too late? It seems when a defender pivots from backward to forward he has to do it at the right time - if he does it too soon the puck carrier will go to the center of the ice and the defender will no longer be between the puck carrier and the net - if he waits too long the puck carrier can lower his inside shoulder and drive the net. How did Mitchell do on that play?

How did Mitchell do on that play? yeah, he was flying alright. i'm no technician same as you. i've never ever played an organized game and i skate on my ankles. having said that, i think his pivot was pretty much perfect. pretty sure mitchell's stick made contact with kurashev's just as he shot which took some heat off of his shot and the goalie made a fairly routine save as a result.

Suter centered Kubalik and Shaw today and he scored, nice seeing the Swiss goal leaders from the past two seasons together.
Pius is small but he's fearless and plays a gritty game, I watched the highlights of his 30 goals and he can score many ways but he scores a lot around the net with 2nd and 3rd chances, sometimes 4th, he's persistent.
Nice seeing Kurashev and Mitchell on that drill, both looked fast and both made smart plays.

Me neither on having played any organized hockey - just pond hockey with the guys in the neighborhood. Never had any coaching other than my dad when I was a little kid - so technique and positioning and that stuff is pretty much lost on me. I thought when I saw Mitchell make that play that he did it pretty well - just don't trust my acumen.

Mitchell got his stick in front of Kurashev and it prevented PK from getting any kind of follow through on his shot, and as you say it took some heat off of it. I'm assuming Mitchell switched his college number around when he joined the Hawks.

I've only read a couple of reports about Suter and both said the same things about him, which were the same things you've mentioned. They said he's very competitive and doesn't shy away from going up against a bigger opponent. I need to watch his highlights. Surely the coaches have their fingers crossed Suter can occupy one of the C spots. I wonder if he would be 2C or 3C, or if that depends on how things go in camp when Soderberg gets here. And even how things go early in the season.

How did Mitchell do on that play? My opinion here. I think Mitchell played it well. Kept him to the outside and when he was about to be beat, he pivoted and turned around to stop the threat. He was skating backwards all the way while Kurachev was flying. It was his only play. Not a great shot got off!!!

The only highlights I saw from training camp today were a bunch of 2-on-2 drills. Not really too exciting to watch. Hopefully they video a couple scrimmages before opening day.

It's gonna be strange seeing a #55 hit people.

Tincup, thanks for posting this. I guess I need to memorize some new numbers so I'll know who I'm seeing out there. One thing to be learned from the video is how to pronounce "Pius". I've been saying it wrong.

Just for my own sake so I know what to look for on this team, I would appreciate it if you all would simply reply and let me know why you think this Hawk team will be any good or at least competitive this season. I am not looking to argue the opposite, I just want to know what you all think are the potential positives for this team. For example, Kane is still Kane and will be offensive force. Thanks for your comments.
