don't know who made this or when but it's likely worth 5 minutes of your time.

Saw that Mathews scored #60 yesterday so followed-up to see who has the second most and was a bit shocked to see all the 100+ point scorers this year ( www.tsn.ca/nhl/statistics), and with nearly 10 games still left. Per Hockey-Reference, the average teams' goals/game is up well below one half-goal since the 2013-2014 season ( www.hockey-reference.com/leagues/stats.html - 2.74 up to 3.11 this season). It seems inconsistent - unless this is a sign of less second-line scoring, and maybe some expansion/talent spread to more teams - that scoring has spiked among the top 10 from averaging 106.7pts this year (again, with ~7-9 games in hand) for the current top-10 scorers vs. 83.7pts 10 years ago for that same top-10 ( www.hockey-reference.com/leagues/NHL_2014_skaters.html#stats::points). The numbers do not seem to easily square otherwise. With that mystery in mind, I'm off to eat some decorated easter eggs. Cheers!

if you ever wanted to make the argument that orr was the best ever...this little factoid would be a good place to start.
personally, i have him at #3 behind gretz and mario. if orr's body of work was bigger...who knows where he might be ranked at?

i was reminded of this listening to a recent marek/friedman podcast. not impossible to repeat this but highly unlikely imho. (they're talking about the conn smythe trophy in this quote from the article) imagine winning the conn smythe, then winning the calder the following year. crazy. Ken Dryden, the 1971 Smythe winner, is the only NHL player to win this trophy before winning the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year (in 1972): Montreal called him up to play only six regular season games, which is not enough to qualify as a rookie season.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conn_Smythe_Trophy#:~:text=Ken%20Dryden%2C%20the%201971%20Smythe,qualify%20as%20a%20rookie%20season. a couple other nuggets some may find semi-interesting... Goaltender Patrick Roy is the only three-time Smythe winner and the only player to win the trophy as a member of two different teams (with the Canadiens in 1986 and 1993, and with the Colorado Avalanche in 2001); his wins also fall into three different decades.
Dave Keon is the only Maple Leafs player to win the trophy, while his eight playoff points in 1967 is the fewest ever by a non-goalie Conn Smythe winner as he was a defensive forward.

seems to me that the life span of former nhlers is shorter than average. (not counting players that take their own lives)
maybe i'm way off here and i don't have proof...but it just seems that way to me.
anyways, i thought it was interesting.
on a sidenote i don't believe Mr. Wojciechowski was involved, but i was pretty much stunned to hear on the news today that we are further away from d-day (80 years) than d-day was from the end of the civil war (79 years).

which was your favorite cup?
this was mine.
shoulda' been the first one but i was just too stunned to fully appreciate it.
this one i was with 2 good mates from back home and at that point i knew how to appreciate it.
of course, it wasn't weideman and murray with the call i originally heard but what a call it was on the radio.
man...we were so good then.

Always glad to see this. Just looking back at the tying goal there was so many little things that contributed to Bickel's goal. From Kaner dancing almost the length of the ice to get into the O-zone, to the great stick by Keith to push it over to the captain and the great pass between Chara's legs and boom back of the net.

Gosh I would have to go with 2015. 2010 my woman could not handle the pressure went for a walk was by myself she came home to dagger playing in the front yard next to my inflatable cup. 2013 my family had enough of watching playoff games with me and my youngest was away so I watched that one by myself stunned. But 2015 was surrounded by people that I had watched many playoff and cup games with. To celebrate with them was very special!!!

62 years young.
hard to believe only 6 players in the history of the blackhawks have scored more goals in a season that troy's 45 back in 85/86.
(bobby hull, secord, JR, savard, larmer and kane)

Tony Amonte just missed it 3 times. 96-97 he had 41 98-99 he had 44 99-00 he had 43 well what do you know? it's amonte's birthday today as well. 54 trips around the sun for him. great video. got the old stadium, a blackhawk's hattrick, and the pleasing sounds of bob cole and harry neale all in one shot.
