They started on the same pairing but then they changed to those pairs, worked out well but Allan, Korchinski, and Dach became very close. And with Allan being able to play either side and them being big Saskatchewan boys, it'd be nice to see them start on the 3rd pair this year with Korchinski getting PP time and Allan PK, let them earn more ice time. Or Allan with Zaitsev and Korchinski with Murphy. I didn't see any Seattle games until after the WJC completed - but then I watched nearly all their games from mid-January through the Memorial Cup - maybe I missed 5 or 6 games or so. Now, being a geezer I will confess my memory and powers of observation could legitimately be called into question at times - but my recollection is that at even strength the KK-Prokop and Allan-Hanzel pairings were pretty much set in stone for the games I watched. Of course there could have been the odd shift here and there but for the most part KK and Allan didn't play together. I didn't watch any games but always checked the gamesheets and highlights after every game, they were together the first game Allan played, maybe the next game or 2, then they switched pairings. Either way they were teammates and now great friends. Plus they grew up playing against each other.

So it looks like it's Kaiser's spot to lose, some big boys will push him for his spot.

Is Taylor Hall’s “lower body” injury a continuation of his injury in Boston last season or something new? in this clip, coach luke alludes to the fact that it's a possibility. seems like him and blackwell might be out a few days. bummer. x.com/CHGO_Blackhawks/status/1705294171127300472?s=20

random blurbs from camp... Luke Richardson seems to really like Nolan Allan, to the point I now think he has an outside chance to make the Blackhawks' roster right off the bat.
"He just looks like a hockey player. It looks like you can put him anywhere and he can play. .... He blocks shots and he doesn’t even grimace. There’s not even a flinch in his face. “This is a team that…I don't want put too many expectations on it, but I think we have a lot in this room. I'm excited to see how the puzzle fits together.”

And I can see why Foligno is so well liked, hated playing against him but it's good he's on our side now. Great mentor for the kids. I was wondering if Kurashev would be the 3C or winger so that answers that, those 3 have some really good chemistry, speed, and 2way games. This team could surprise some people, especially if the goaltender and young dmen step up.

They will at least force their opponents to work a lot harder to get 2 points than they had to last season.

I'd add Allan in there, his size, skating, and overall game is exactly what the Hawks need. Send Kaiser to Rockford, like they did with Vlasic last season. My D pairs would be: Jones-Vlasic Murphy-Phillips Allan Korchinski Zaitsev-Tinordi Hopefully KD can find a taker for Zaitsev before the regular season starts, or Murphy. Almost have to have Allan as there aren’t any other bodies ready except maybe Roos. Gotta start the young guys sometime so might as well be now. LR will be taking a real close look at the D corps over the next couple of weeks. Phillips should get first shot I would like Allen EDM and tender Drew to spend all year together just my 2 cents

This is not a criticism but curious as to the thinking behind Reichel at center. They have 16 centers in camp (according to the roster) and I would not want to see Reichel’s career sidetracked with an experiment gone awry. But clearly there is a benefit to the team or they wouldn’t be trying this.

But clearly there is a benefit to the team or they wouldn’t be trying this. I believe he played center coming up through the different levels in his native Germany so he is a center - not a winger being converted to center. He played wing for the Hawks as an easier path to get into the NHL lineup. If he proves NHL level center is too difficult he will be moved back to wing. I don't see this as a problem or potential derailing of his career. For sure it's a benefit for the team if he proves he can play center because it means he gives them move value. As to the Hawks having 16 centers on the roster - but only some of those centers are ready to play NHL level and most of them are not top-6 level players. In fact - maybe only 2 are legit top-6 level centers - Bedard and Reichel. They have Nazar, Moore and Greene in college who may be top-6 centers but not this season.

the nhl site still has reichel at 170 pounds but in this interview he says he's up to 188 so that's good to hear.
good interview if you have 6 minutes to kill.

It’ll be interesting to see how Richardson handles his lines, and who centers them. Talented or not, pretty tough for your two most talented centers to be lining up against the best of the NHL with such little experience. Going to be a huge responsibility placed on Bedard’s and Reichel’s wingers but their projected wings are all pretty seasoned guys.

I just listened to the Richardson post practice presser from yesterday and he is about as good as it gets for answering questions thoughtfully and thoroughly than any other coach I can think of – and he does it with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye like he really enjoys it.
Now granted, the rebuild is still in the honeymoon stage and even the normally curmudgeonly reporters are still feeling the euphoric effects of Bedard in their midst so we’ll have to see how LR handles things when the wedding night seems a distant memory – but so far so good.
A coach devoid of coach-speak – who knew?

The NHL site still has Crevier at 6' 196lbs lol And yeah how can sites not have someone updating this, especially when Reichel said he gained 13lbs last year and now he's saying he fluctuates between 187-189lbs. That's much different than 170. He's a mature guy, and versatile. If he struggles at faceoffs his linemates are also good at center, lots of options. The top line Saturday was Hall-Bedard-Danato, I'm sure Raddysh will be on that line at one point.
