I wonder how that would work with ESPN+, since they own the league's streaming rights. Is BSPN going to have all the games again this year? I'd hate to subscribe again but... There will also be games on TNT. Those are the games that even Hawk fans will see their team. No blackouts like espn.

So,as things stand, the Hawks are not televising games on Comcast? Will home game be blacked-out on ESPN+ and Center Ice? I pay a SHIT TON for these services and I won't spend another red-cent or jump through a single hoop to watch the team.
Comcast recording states 'NBC sports Chicago has ceased operation' and to tune-in digitally as many of you have mentioned.
The apple doesn't fall far from the greedy tree and the Wirtz 'gene' is alive and well. Lotta other hockey to watch.......F em!

Hawks are just one of the first to do this. There’s no big tv deal to be had. Next year the Rogers/Sportsnet deal is done and they are elated to get away from that. They signed a 12 year 5.6 billion deal to have all the rights in Canada. I have to pay for SN Now. That’s their streaming app. And then if I’m a Leaves fan or Sens or even Habs. It will be blacked out on there. Have to buy their cable or satellite package to watch those teams. I get lucky and can see those games cuz I also have that satellite package. But that’s only for home games or if they play each other. So the NHL will be looking for a lot more providers soon. Sportsnet also owns the hockey night in Canada rights. So unless they take significantly less. I don’t see how they make it work in Canada anymore. I feel that maybe the league is looking into a centralized approach and maybe TNT becomes much bigger and broadcasts/streams much more. But the times they are a changin my man!!!

But I already pay to watch T. I have Center Ice,ESPN+ and the cable/tv portion of my Comcast bill is over $200 alone because I also have a sports premium package. The thing is,I'm not being asked to pay a bit more this time. My cable provider who's televised the games for a long time and provides cable/tv to over half the homes in Chicagoland is no longer an option at any rate,I'm 45 miles from the city and two friends told me the 'over the air' signal is weak out here regardless of where I put an antennae and I see no 'dish' in my future either. How could the 'Nepo Baby','Lucky sperm club' owner let it come to this and Jaime's just gonna do whatever her husband does with the Flubs? Bulls and Sox.....who gives two shits but Reisendorf is obviously in on this too.......along with his 'nepo baby','lucky sperm club' son. The two sons recently collaborated on a SEVEN BILLION dollar proposal to gentrify more of the area around the UC,which the two BILLIONARE families own lock, stock and barrel and they're telling me to get an antennae or a dish to watch their teams? Both options to watch are basically outdated technology,WTF did I buy smart TV's,streaming services and the best cable package for? What's next,'closed circut TV' at local theatres for PO games? SCREW these two BILLIONARE families......I will not spend another red cent or jump through any hoops to watch their teams!!!!!!

So I actually have one TV that is already hooked up to an antenna. I put it on yesterday, the channels (62.2 and 62.3) for the new Chicago Sports station show up, but they're just black. Ran a re-scan of my channels, still black. Fuck these guys. I'm not buying new antennas for all my TVs and placing them in every spot in my house just so the station shows up. And even though Wiedeman and Troy are great, I'm over the radio, been there and done that. I'm not watching until it's on Xfinity. If it's not, guess I'm hitting the dusty trail. I've been a hockey fan since I was 7-8 years old but I'm not jumping through hoops now. The game is not easy to watch anymore anyways, with ads on jerseys, the e-board ads, etc. I know I sound like the old guy in the room but maybe I am now. There's been a constant concerted effort -- both by the league and the Hawks organization -- to "appeal to the new generation of fans" and they're doing a damn good job of ostracizing longtime fans in the process.

This is an interesting take G because you've been pretty supportive of the new regime but there are limits I guess. For the record,I am not looking for something to nit-pick here,I'm just in disbelief that the teams couldn't have already agreed with their long-time partner Comcast before the season started. It seems the entire 'roll-out' is unready and does team ownership really expect their fans to buy outdated, hit or miss, over the air antennas or switch to Direct TV or U-verse and then pay to switch back when they settle with Comcast? Will home and away games be blacked-out on opponent's center ice and ESPN+ feeds also? If so,they'll push more fans than just you and me away. Is Danny.......the anti-Rocky?

I think that, once the regular season starts, it won't be very hard to find the game online if one wants to. surely there will be links here in the gameday threads. the whole "appeal to the younger generation" stuff is something I've always understood (gotta keep the money coming in in the future), but the approach has always been flawed, imo. if you REALLY want to capture the young fans, the best way to do it is by WINNING. that'll get the parents and grandparents there and excited and once the young ones see that (vs the actual team winning), they'll be hooked, as evidenced by the amount of 20-30 something fans of the Blackhawks you see nowadays...

Yeah I've been supportive of Davidson for the most part, but if memory serves, I've voiced a few displeasures with the org over time. I feel like I've been bitching about how they handled the Foley change for a while now, lol -- to name one thing. And I definitely tore them a new one when Chelios' number was retired, on multiple fronts -- dumbest move this org has ever taken. Seems like this is another thing they're screwing up, but also, Comcast sucks too -- they did the same thing with NewsNation when they first came into existence. I blame them just as badly, I guess I'm just too lazy to cancel my cable; at least right now, assuming my bill never goes up and/or they take away more channels that I like. Hasn't happened yet but it very well could, obviously.

I think what makes Troy better on the radio is that he's with Weideman. I hope Pang is better this year with the new guy. I was shocked at how bad he was, but then again, he was with Vosters. Still, he missed a lot of on-ice observations that I expect a color guy to see and expound on.

Sometimes I just think that some of these suits don't really have anything else better to do, so they come up with these stupid ideas, as if they're going to achieve anything. You're exactly right -- nothing is going to bring in new fans other than winning, plain and simple.

I guess the new network is supposed to be picked up by different cable/satellite providers!!! Well I'll believe it when I see it. I actually received an email a couple days ago from Comcast notifying its customers that NBC Chicago will no longer be available, which was curious on Comcast's part because, if a deal was imminent, you would think they wouldn't have sent this email; or at least made mention of the fact that negotiations were taking place to replace NBC Chicago with the new channel. But that was not mentioned at all. All the email said, essentially, was "we're taking this channel away, so tough shit. Sorry." Edit: actually, it does say, "we are reviewing the regional network fee in the area and will communicate any changes in the coming weeks." But "coming weeks" implies beyond the start of the season and the email as a whole doesn't sound encouraging. It was sent on 9/26.

Funny how they expect fans to pay extra for 3 last place teams. I’m not sure if it’s gonna cost more or not. JayZ said to not worry and that things will be ok. He went on to say that the Hawks make money on advertising during games. So it doesn’t sound like they’re gonna charge for their games. But we’ll see what happens. Actually they had Jaime Faulkner on the show a couple weeks back. She explained a lot!!!

We have a bonfire party to go to tonight and might miss the start of the game. Will BSPN+ be showing the same amount of games again this year? I'm thinking of getting it again (maybe just for a month) so I can watch the whole game later tonight.
