Damn shame 2 of our guys are not going. Dach and Boqvist. If Sb let them go then he can have his darling pet Sikura play everyday then.

I don't understand the thinking that went into not giving your two best U20 players the chance to play for their countries but I criticize enough stuff these days so I guess there's a reason. Anyone know why Gravel doesn't play for Germany? He doesn't show any international tourney play on his bio.

This season seems a bit down from last season. But it's early still. It is funny not finding any bantam, peewee stats either. Just Halifax. His dad played for France and even Italy his Wiki page said. It's almost like he appeared out of nowhere. He's an alien then.

Anyone know why Gravel doesn't play for Germany? He doesn't show any international tourney play on his bio. Gravel was born in Germany but represents Canada in international competition. He was a goalie for Canada at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics where he played in 4 games for Canada, earning a (.902) save percentage. Gravel also competed for Canada men's national under-18 ice hockey team and was named to the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, a tournament not sanctioned by the International Ice Hockey Federation, winning gold with Canada, and defeating the Czech Republic 4–1. Gravel played only one game for Canada in the tournament, earning a (3.69) goals against average with a (.857) save percentage.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexis_Gravel

Thanks. Hopefully I can catch the US/Canada game.
i doubt i'll make it due to the 1 a.m. start here, but if you go to buffstream.stream/ and click "hockey" i see it's listed there. it requires many clicks because each click will invariably open an unwanted window which you'll need to click out of. half a dozen or so clicks should get you there. (just stay in the original window) WARNING: it's a very dodgy site. my old laptop handles it well but others won't. so be warned. hopefully it'll be on normal tv where you're at. looks to me like it might be carrying most or all of the games because i see the russkies/czechs and the swiss/kazakhs are on in about 30 minutes. on a sidenote, i could've sworn i read somewhere that regula was cut (or maybe i dreamt it) but i see he made the final u.s.a roster so there's him, teply (cze), saarela and nodgren (fin) to watch at least.

I’m a big fan of this tourney. I do feel that the IIHF has made it clear the old “Canadian” style was no longer gonna be tolerated, which is fine, but I like to see “heavy” teams meeting at first. It was cool I guess to see the traditional New Year’s Eve game of Canada and the US. I think Canada finally is doing the right thing and taking an untraditional younger team. Most will be back next year and we can win it back home in Alberta (if they’re still part of Canada!). Let the trash talk begin! Goooooo Kazakhstan..... I mean Canada!!!

Teply with 3 apples so far today. Nice start. He has some puck skills, I’m interested in how mature the rest of his game is as well.

Never was a goal and the refs gave the USA their chance late in the third. Was a helluva finish though. Looks like Lafrenierre lives up to his reputation and is going to start his career in Detroit, poor bastard.

Both teams had more than their share of PP's and although all four calls in the 2nd were correct, four in a row can turn a game. I though it was a good matchup with the Canadian kids having the better of the 5 on 5 play but both teams have to be better on the kill. I liked that Bahl kid two summers ago and he never should have slid to 55th,I woulda loved him with the 2nd pick in the 1st round but we needed the 2nd little D-man instead I guess. Bahl looked every bit as good or maybe better than Byram IMO. Lafrenierre (gotta come up with a nickname for him or I'll get writer's cramp!LOL!) is as advertised but Miller can't attempt that pass......disastrous! I look for Knight and Dawes to both tighten things up from here on out.

Thought there would be more traffic in this thread. Oh well. Tough side to be on with Russia in here as well as the home country Czechs. I want to watch the next USA game against Germany so I can watch Stutzle play. A good tourney puts him into our sights when we pick next year. I didn’t see enough of Byfield or Drysdale to make an opinion of them, special teams kept them off the ice. And watch the highly touted Askarov rebound against Canada next game, maybe he’s our next goalie.

Finn vs Sweden in the 3rd with 15mins left, Swedens goalie made what might be a nominee for save of the year. Kept Sweden in it and they tied it at 2.

But I still like the pride of your side in K’Andre Miller. He’s still a bit raw, but damn does he clean out the front of the net. So far, Turcotte has looked meh, Zegras though, he’s the real deal. Pinto reminds me of a shitttty car my dad used to have, but he looks like a gamer too. Cozens played a great game, can we trade Nylander for Cozens? I love Drysdsle, he could be a great consolation prize for a team that loses the lotto. Lotsa good kids in the this tourney. Should be a good one!!!

Bahl's size, reach, positioning and stick length allow him to break up a lotta plays and he skates pretty well for a big kid. Not many guys pick that pass outta mid air like the talented Canadian kid did but Miller can't attempt that pass either. I agree, still a bit raw I guess. It'll take guys like Wohlstrom and Caulfield gettin' hot for the US to have a shot IMO.

Anyone watching USA-Germany? One thing you can say, the Germans work hard but they are in tough against a more talented team. I’m liking Stutzle though, runs their PP as a 17 year old. His draft status will rise.
