I’m not sure that’s entirely chipped in stone. Windsor Spitfire and CHL scoring champ Wyatt Johnston is said to still be on the team. I’ve heard that Dallas isn’t going to take him on their team and they’ll let him play in the tournament. As for all the Hawks prospects. What did we expect? There really isn’t much in the Hawks system but hope. The newly drafted kids are too young to make the team. Maybe the December team is achievable. But right now, I don’t see them making it. In another year or so, you’ll see the WJC flooded with Hawks prospects. They’ll have like 10-12 kids in the tourney and all looking good. Better days are ahead!!! I thought for sure Allan and Dach would've made it because they older, big, and had really good seasons. Hopefully it pushes all the Hawks prospects to prove Canada made the wrong choice.

Hopefully it pushes all the Hawks prospects to prove Canada made the wrong choice. first thing I thought as well. they all get another shot in a few months. hopefully it motivates them. Is it possible the players chosen are just "better" or better fit? I agree players like Allan and Dach are big, strong and more mature would have inside track assuming everything is equal . I am not familiar with the criteria to make the team but have to believe like everything else there is always going to be certain players pushed by others in position of authority (coaches, managers, etc.) to make the team. If I am the "regular" coach of a player(s) will certainly try to make the best case for him to be on team. There is always going to be some favoritism. Not sure how players making team is it subjective or objective? I know the goal is (should be) to put together the best possible "team" not necessarily the most talented 25 players.

I missed the first 2 games today.
Looks like the Slovaks and Cze had quite the game.
Fin took care of business with the Lat.
USA and Ger starting now.

Shout out for Slaggert from announcers hard to tell anything from that game though

Note sure if this is where this belongs. 2023 NHL draft prospect Michkov suffers knee injury, could miss two months. He suffered a knee injury on a hit from Alexei Emelin during a KHL exhibition game on Thursday. Bedard still #1 on all or most 2023 draft boards, wonder if Fantill moves up with a good start.

Finished watching my recording of US vs Germany. Kaiser received good comments from the announcers. Slaggert very energetic in 1st period particularly. Favorable comments on Dominic James’ skating ability. Kind of lopsided play so not all that exciting to watch. Also not thrilled with announcers but what else is new. .

I gotta say. Latvia 🇱🇻 has really surprised me. Like really surprised me. Played Canada hard, and almost scratched out a W vs Slovakia 🇸🇰.
Also. For any single men out there. Latvia has a man shortage. Not joking either. The article I read said that the country has 57% women to 43% men. And the men are mostly older men. And the women are younger. So it’s heaven for any young men in that country!!!

So the Murican green back is just about on par with that. However I doubt Latvia is a major contributor to the Euro. So I’d have to guess that they have a very low cost of living and the Euro/Dollar goes quite far there. Actually I just checked. They’re the 3rd poorest amongst Europe. Just google Latvian women. Jeebus Chrysler. They have some rockets over thur!!!

Nazar cut from US team - damn I was looking forward to watching him play. So, one of the Hawks' draft picks who is supposed to lead them to NHL glory got cut from the US WJC team? That's pretty bad news for Chicago. The future savior of the team can't even make his WJC team? Maybe it will take more than a decade for the Hawks to be somewhat competitive.

That's pretty bad news for Chicago. The future savior of the team can't even make his WJC team? Maybe it will take more than a decade for the Hawks to be somewhat competitive. The teams were already picked. CHL scoring champion Wyatt Johnston had 124 points this year. He wasn’t taken because the team was picked in December. They never added him this summer due to the team already being picked. So the same went for the US squad. Yet Nazar almost made the US team anyways. He’ll be there at Xmas when his normal time to make it is up. So we have to look at this tourney and it’s team as last Xmas. Nazar will be there as an 18 year old. And that’s unheard of. Same as Korchinski. If these kids don’t make it this Xmas, they usually don’t. It’s a tourney of 19 year olds. Nazar and Korchinski just turned 18. So let’s not come down on them yet!!!
